Dylan van Frankfoort’s review published on Letterboxd:
Really welcome return to good J-adjacent horror (this is a Korean short, but one obviously drawing from your Ringu and Pulse type haunted tech yarns) after my last dose came in the form of a shitty Ghost Adventures special, Devil Island (the scariest part is Billy trying to "save" the spirit of a teenage girl, murdered by an old-ass misogynist proto-incel douche, by luring her out to his car with his similarly middle-aged bros... read the room, dude). Employs a clever gimmick revolving around filmmaking software, as a director and his clutch editor try to salvage footage ruined by a persistent apparition. Kinda plays like an elaborate internet screamer video, but I'd be lying if I said those fucking things didn't get me. The juice is in the conversations surrounding the editing choices anyway, which are alternately thought-provoking and hilarious. Dug this one a lot!
Shout-out to towerofbears for dropping that crazy title in my activity feed!
