Best film of 2025 so far.

The National Board of Review naming this one of the top ten films of 2024 is baffling. A dull, hipster-filtered Fifty Shades of Grey. Ridiculous and unintentionally funny. This maybe could have worked had it been directed by Todd Solondz or Catherine Breillat, and made in 2009.
I avoided seeing this for years, thinking the hype around it would only lead to disappointment, but holy fuck this was great. A challenging, hilarious depiction of an artist in crisis. Remarkable how Fellini was able to create something so layered, complex, and difficult—yet also joyously entertaining. Surprisingly heartfelt. Sentimental and nostalgic, but in a way that feels honest and artistically daring.
