John Wick may be the most consistent film franchise of all time. Each film in the series may have its flaws, but they always deliver great, entertaining action. To address the elephant in the room, the film is absurdly lengthy at 169 minutes. Even though the pacing is fine, it definitely came off as too long for me. The film can be exhausting at times, and shaving off around 20 minutes would have helped.
Everything else about the movie delivers the hype. The action is the most refined in the series. It's so visceral and high-stakes, it'll have any action movie junkie thrilled. The cinematography, choreography, and lighting; all improved from its predecessors. That Hotline Miami setpiece especially blew my mind with how good it was. Unlike Chapter 3, the film introduces new side characters that are actually significant to the story and does not peak too early. I'm really looking forward to what Chad Stahelski has in store next.
