In a Violent Nature

Sets to reinvent the established and cliche formula of slashers; hard to say if it does but it definitely has moments of greatness. The tone of this film is terrific, bleak, it prays on how sick and twisted these killings are. A game of cat and mouse, kills that absolutely pull zero punches. Slow paced but works in what it sets out to do in putting us in a killers perspective. The human characters are cliche; filled with cringy and…

Saw this a few hours ago and this films visuals haven’t left my mind since; equally disturbing as they are compelling. A nightmare, feels like I’m drowning in the world’s deepest ocean. Nostalgia as a drug; themes of identity, sexuality and mental health all explored with such creativity and maturity. Media can shape us in who we become, which can be a neat concept but is also inherently terrifying. The core message of identity, and becoming the person you’re meant…

Happy Star Wars day! Still a good film, fun throughout and captures a certain charm that seemingly only Lucas could capture. Duel of the fates is still one of the most impressive scenes of the series, played great in a theater.

Godzilla × Kong: The New Empire

Absurd, yet still somehow kind of underwhelming. This doesn’t really kick into full gear into the third act, and is filled with some of the worst characters and dialogue this franchise has offered. Fun enough to get by, but fails in most areas that differ from the title characters. Adam Wingard has seemingly struck gold in helming this and the previous film in this “monster verse” franchise. While I’m happy he’s doing large scale projects, a huge part of me wishes he’d go back to something smaller like “You’re Next.”

Somehow, Denis manages to not only top his first film centered in this universe, but improve on it in most ways. The stakes are raised, the tensions are palpable, and everything comes together so incredibly well. Visually stunning, emotionally gripping, and performances which are all so incredibly layered bring this film a level above. Being specific for a second, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha could genuinely go down as one of the greatest villains in science fiction. I am so incredibly grateful to…

It’s not considered a horror film, but I would be lying if I said that this wasn’t one of the scariest films I’ve seen to date. Unsettling and disturbing are two words that are consistently brought up when discussing Cure, and for good reason. A mesmerizing, deeply disturbing feature that eats away at the viewers spirit. A wildly incredible psychological thriller that’s unlike most other films in its field. Cure is a masterful film that has not left my memory since viewing it.

Hypnotic.

Another massive achievement in a career full of nothing but achievements. Hayao Miyazaki has again created an outstanding project that is easily one of the best pictures I’ve seen all year. This film entranced me, brought me into a journey I never wanted to leave. A wonderful, beautifully animated story that made me feel more then most projects have this year. Please please please if you’re planning to see this make sure it’s in a theater. This was one of my favorite theater experiences this entire year, and I’m so glad to say I absolutely loved this.

It’s still the best Home Alone film and one of the best Christmas movies in general. Repeats a lot of the same beats as the first but I’ll be damned if this film isn’t insanely more fun then the first. Both are great but this one has always been my preferred watch.

A fascinating and unique project that actually lets Nick Cage play a character!!!

Liked this a lot, widely creative. Falters in the later half but comes together somewhat nicely.
