Sean Hoffmann’s review published on Letterboxd:
Part two of my Love Lies Bleeding/Dune part two IMAX double header.
Round 3 overall, second round in IMAX w/Laser and sadly likely the last time I’ll see it in theaters for now.
I think one of the reasons why I love this so much is because it reminds me of 2 films I grew up with. The Empire Strikes Back and The Wrath of Khan. There can be Sci Fi sequels that get even better than the first film? The sense of wonder and awe they inspired in me watching them in the basement all those years ago feels so similar to seeing this in theaters now. It’s a feeling I’ll and cherish for a very long time.
Also, and this is probably a little corny, but I can’t but feel sad that this won’t be in theaters to see forever. It’s how movies work obviously. But just knowing that compelled me to go multiple times for this film. And that’s something that very few films in my life have compelled me to do.
Long live the fighters.
