Sinners

Seeing Sinners in 70MM IMAX in Lincoln Square tonight. Most excited I’ve been for a movie since The Brutalist.

Hard to express just how great this was. The kind of movie while you are watching it you get that “fuck, this is a classic” feeling before it’s even over. Gorgeously shot, performed to the nines and designed impeccably from top to bottom, it’s the kind of film we as cinephiles will want to talk about for decades. A true night…

A weird Halloween watch? Perhaps. But after months of hype, I was always going to see it the first chance possible.

Pretty Women x After Hours x Uncut Gems x Red Rocket = Anora

They don't come along often, so when they do we need to celebrate them and I can say without hesitation that Anora is indeed a masterpiece and needs to be celebrated as such. Busting with life and all of the joys, dramas and horrors of it…

- Damn, Teo Briones looks just like his sister (Dr Santos!!!) it’s uncanny.
- RIP Tony Todd. His scene was incredibly powerful and knowing that he worked with them on his dialogue knowing he…

The Substance

BONKERS filmmaking to a degree I don't think I could have imagined even after some of the festival reactions, The Substance is a film that feels like a singular vision in a way that few films do. It's one of those films where I really don't even wanna talk about it too much because people should see this as uninformed as humanly possible. Memorable direction, multiple great performers going for it (and succeeding), some of the greatest gore and effects…

Longlegs

An instant horror classic, Longlegs not only lives up to the hype but in many ways manages to go beyond it. It's a film with clear influences like The Exorcist, Silence of The Lambs, Zodiac & Hereditary but somehow feels completely new and fresh in a way that few films with such obvious influences can. I don't really get "scared" by movies anymore so I can't speak to that aspect but I will say this movie grabbed me and ever let…
