Dune: Part Two

2024

One of my other friends has said this but i feel almost ungrateful for having little thoughts about differences in the book, but denis has done what he needed to in order to adapt something not written with cinematic intent.

We have been deprived of a well executed action blockbuster of this scale for a long time and it sets the benchmark for what can be achieved with a large budget. Seriously, where did the money go on films like “Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny” of “Antman Quantamania?

In of preparation and execution, everyone hits the mark and does their job; the writing, editing, photography, vfx, costumes, make up, sound, acting and of course, direction. Denis and his ensemble take the unadaptable and delivers the second (and arguably hardest) film in a dune trilogy that is truly worthy of an audience.

I couldnt say outright its the greatest film i have ever seen, but that is more a consequence of the source material’s sheer scale and complexity. You cannot create a self contained dune film without yearning for more from it. There is a hypocrisy to that too, i think those of us who yearn do so whilst knowing that we don’t deserve how much we have been given from these films in the first place. I feel so selfish to think there are other things that could have been done or added or changed.

Need to watch again
