Noc’s review published on Letterboxd:
Denis Villeneuve has once again added to his perfect filmography.
This film, this franchise, feels like an event. Dune feels like one of those franchise where in 10-20 years people will reminisce and talk about where they were in their lives when they saw them, in the same way people talk about the original Star Wars films and Lord of the Rings. I do not think we have seen a self contained sci-fi film event like this in a very very long time. I do not count the MCU since that was just a culmination of 11 years of different movies coming together; however I don’t think a film has felt to this scale in regards to a cinematic event within its own story since Infinity War/Endgame.
Expert filmmaking, the performances, the sound, the visuals, the script. Dune: Part Two takes everything from the first one and builds upon it. It gives you an epic satisfying conclusion, but keeps you longing for more. I cannot wait to see how Villeneuve adapts Dune: Messiah but for now I am going to revel in how incredible of a filmmaker this beautiful French Canadian man is.
