Dune: Part Two

(I’m just fangirling but wtv.)

Austin Butler said that his approach to playing Feyd was to not judge him but rather to understand him and finding his characters voice was a key thing for him. He said, “I found it liberating to be able to look in the mirror and not see myself”. I think that’s a bit crazy. And when he talked about his training with Duffy Gaver, I found myself to be more impressed than I already was.

I’ve fallen in love with all his characters tbh. SPOILER (MAYBE?): the part when Feyd licks the knife wasn’t in the script. That was improv and that’s actually so crazy to me.

I will always ire Austin Butler for his genuine interest and intricate approach for the character roles he chooses to play. I haven’t watched Elvis yet but from listening to what he said in his interviews, he has always been captivated by immersive roles. One of them being Feyd. Going back to Elvis, the fact that he didn’t see his family for three years, hired five vocal coaches in the period of two years because he never sang before and had explored all the contextual factors that went into playing Elvis, in my opinion transgresses talent.

I’ve watched multiple interviews but the one with him and Janelle Monet really goes into depth about his acting career, examines his approach to acting and just the realities of acting and the acting space. The link if you want to watch it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LfwXCdrb98

I’m glad he is getting recognition because as an actor he is so versatile: being in Disney, playing Elvis, playing Feyd, Tex in “Once upon a time in Hollywood” and Gale in "Masters of the air” (which I’m almost done watching).

I don’t even know if this is a review, but I said what I had to say.
