“LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!”
Dune Part Two is a triumph of sci-fi cinema, a celluloid mirage of war, power and malevolent forces reminiscent of biblical prophecies yet to come.
Denis Villeneuve had used his keen eye for superb visuals and crafted a deep and expansive world that’s just as frightening and visceral as it is awe inspiring. He has taken all the loose ends from Part One and tied them all up in a nice sand and blood covered bow.
While the entire cast is phenomenal, Chalamet is immensely captivating as Paul Atreides the man prophesied to lead the Fremen peoples to paradise. Austin Butler is horrifying as Feyd-Rautha, a character who can only be described as a literal demon, a feral beast who gains his life force from the blood of his enemies. He’s 10000% deserving of a best ing actor nomination just for that hauntingly accurate portrayal.
The cinematography is epic in every sense of the word, a beautiful amalgamation of colors that light up the senses, the sandworm scene is just as amazing as everyone is saying and the final act stands as one of the best in all of cinema.
As I’ve said plenty of times before no film is complete without the perfect score to match and Dune 2 has just that. Hanz Zimmer has crafted what just might be his best score yet and the amount of times it gave me chills cannot be understated.
Dune Part Two has proven itself worthy of the hype it is receiving, a sequel for the ages and arguably the greatest science fiction film ever conceived. Denis Villeneuve has solidified himself as my favorite director and I cannot wait to see how he concludes this epic saga in Dune: Messiah.
