MCU correctly ranked

Here is my unsolicited list of the MCU

The way I define a good Marvel movie is the same as every other movie.

I like a movie with a good story, compelling character, great writing and brilliant directing.

Lots of marvel movies fail on so many basic traits for making a good movie so they rely on quips that sacrifice development

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This movie was the one I knew the MCU was sticking around.

Loved the spy espionage thriller of the movie and the Russo's Directed the movie so wonderfully. I can see why they replaced Joss Whedon to finish the original avengers films

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

James Gunn went hard and it paid off.

Every second of this movie you can tell James writes with love for these characters and for his friends behind the characters

A movie that has so much practical design. I do love practical sets!

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Oh yes nostalgia got me good with this one.

Loved seeing Tobey into he MCU and Andrew is truly a delight. Honestly having them in the movies just shows that Tom's interpretation is mediocre compared to those who came before him.

So much happened in this movie. I'm surprised it was so strong.

Avengers: Infinity War

A culmination from a decade of the MCU and wow. The way they wrote Thanos was truly great. I enjoyed how they seperated it into 2 movies and the first is building the villain and it takes time to show all sides of the character. Perfectly balanced

WandaVision

What a fun show. Loved how each episode explored a new era of TV. Well written an even better acted.

Feels a shame that Elizabeth Olsen's run in the MCU could be over as this show was a great showreel for her acting ability

Werewolf by Night

This would be such a hidden gem if it wasn't an MCU film. Black and white is definitely the only way to enjoy this film.

Avengers: Endgame

Bitter sweet ending. Such heartbreak for the story of Hawkeye. Time travel done partially well. More well done than most movies. So many characters got shining moments and it ended an era and didn't fall on its face!

Captain America: Civil War

If you want to see great action scenes. This is the movie. The story is solid and makes you appreciate all the character building up to this point

Loki
10

Loki's redemption and sacrifice (again) told differently and what a journey it takes you on. Felt a bit fillery at time but the majority of the show was great

Thor: Ragnarok

What a breath of fresh air for the Thor franchise. It was a really fun comedy Taika did a great job for his MCU debut!

Iron Man

Lets finally put the movie what started it all. Such ambition with so much on its shoulders. What a solid foundation for a the monolithic juggernaut of the MCU

Guardians of the Galaxy

James Gunn has such a ion for movie making. And this movie encapsulates his love story telling. Honestly I started dislking Chris Pratt after this movie because he was being miscasted due to this film however, James casted him perfectly as Star Lord

Cannot wait to see what he does for DC.

Ant-Man

A refreshing new character for the avengers roster. What a fun time,
First reference the avengers exist from an outsider. The Thomas the Tank Engine scene was so good

Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman was god tier in his role of Black Panther. Michael B Jordan is still one of the best MCU villains. So well written! Pity the CGI department took the day off when they needed to animated the final fight.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

As much as I don't enjoy Benedict Cumberbatch I did like this movie. Sam Raimi changing the MCU formula and turning it into a pseudo horror. So much fun!

Other strange and that battle was so weird. Didn't enjoy that. Will love to see more Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic. Oh and Patrick Stewart is always great as Xavier

Hawkeye

This show is heart. I wish Hawkeye had this treatment throughout his time in the MCU. Hailee Steinfeld will hopefully have a better run as bishop in the future

I want more stories with Jeremy Renner

Iron Man 3

Controversial take having it so high on the list. But hey, really enjoyed what Shane Black did with Tony's character. Just sad that this movie feels like it has no impact on any other MCU thing until Secret Invasion where they made extremis worse

Moon Knight

This movie was just fine. There's not much of it connected to the wider MCU as a whole. But fingers crossed

I think from now on all the movies will be just fine and servicable. We've moved ed the ones I've enjoyed

Spider-Man: Homecoming

This movie was fine. It was nice seeing a full movie with Spiderman in the MCU. I still very much dislike seeing Tom Holland as spiderman. Very much got lucky to have the role as I haven't seen him evolve his acting abilities which I feel he must

Doctor Strange

What a quipfest. My goodness watching Cumberbatch trying to do MCU humour was rough. Brits usually are better at humour than his performance.

Tilda Swinton was such a good character in this movie

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

For the longest time I thought this was better than the original. I am mistaken, the movie was drawn out and I can barely a thing.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I appreciated this movie within the trilogy of captain america, but as a stand alone it wasn't too great. The ending with the time jump was fun, everything else felt like build up for another story

Spider-Man: Far From Home

There was so much to enjoy about this movie. Really enjoyed the Mysterio sequences. Jake was casted really well. But other than that the movie just didn't stick the landing with anything else it tried but never got there.

J.K was a great addition

The Avengers

Time put this movie in. Looking back on this over 10 years later. I believe this movie was just not great. Joss Whedon was a poor choice of director/writer for this. I'm glad after Age of Ultron the studio understood that too

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Farewell Chadwick. This movie struggled without you trying to find and identity. Ryan created a beautiful goodbye for his friend and it was felt.

However as a MCU movie it just didn't hit the marks

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

I liked this sorta when watching it. Like I liked the care given to the captain America series. However I cannot most of it.

Wyatt Russell isn't good to watch as the villain. It was good to see Zimo in his weird purple outfit. Agenr 13 as the broker made me feel annoyed.

Captain Marvel

Look, it wasn't the worst movie. Added more questions than it answered and set up the Skrulls which as a concept I'm very not interested shapeshifters. Such a lazy trope

Avengers: Age of Ultron

This movie was busy. So busy, there want much of a reason why it was this messy. Introduced so many new characters to a roster thats already massive. Not entirely Joss Whedons fault. But he definitely didn't do much to save it

Thor: Love and Thunder

The start was great. Loved the 80s vibe of the movie. Everything after that was to jokey and weird. The scene between Valkyrie and Jane with the speaker was super awkward and cringe.

Taika needed to pick a lane. Was the movie emotional or quippy. He chose both

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Much like the MCU my list has phases and welcome to the bottom phase. The movies that I don't really want to see again without being on a marathon

Ant-Man and the wasp was just dull. I couldn't get behind it and it left me feeling what would have happened if Edgar Wright was able to do his trilogy

★★½

I didn't hate this. Acting was solid. Fisk was misused and retconned. Showed a dope daredevil scene which makes me more keen for the new Daredevil show!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Didn't hate this. Maybe a bit too ambitions and it very much lost touch of the essence of an Ant-Man movie. A super hero who can change height from small to super large felt like it had no baring on the film. Scott's connection to Cassie seemed super off. But that could just be because of the blip. Idk

Thor
35

Struggled to put this so high on the list. Was debating if this sucked more than iron 2 or not.

Well you can see my choice

Iron Man 2

And here this is immediately after Thor.

Both movies suck in different ways. World building in Thor was just better than this film

Secret Invasion

This was such an up and down experience. Nick Fury was treated with respect. Nothing else was!

Still hate shapeshifting as a trope in any media. Such a cop out and adds far to many questions and frustrating uncertainty.

Black Widow

I will miss Scarlett Johansson as black widow. She was such a great character!

Unpopular opinion, I'm not a fan of David Harbour so seeing him pop up is not too great to watch, especially since his character will be in Thunderbolts

The Marvels
★½

This movie was just straight up cringe and I wasn't for it.

However it's definitely not the worst!

Eternals

Marvel fans call this a DC movie. That's an insult to DC. This movie blew chunks. Non cohesive, all about setup for down the track and you couldn't emotionally relate to anyone.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

This movie is not as good as people say it is. I got so bored through the movie that I felt like turning it off and napping. Honestly the only highlight of the film is being Ben Kingsley back as Trevor. Such a funny running joke! And Awkwafina is just as hard to watch in movie as James Corden.

Thor: The Dark World

So much recasting in this film and Christopher Eccleston got the Eric Bana treatment and played a boring bad guy who couldn't show acting range.

This movie was just a bad idea brought to the screen

The Incredible Hulk

No one re this movie because it was just so shit. Wouldn't be a part of the MCU if Robert Downey Jr. Didn't rock up in the credits.

Ms. Marvel

This show was hard to watch. It's cringe throughout. Trying to set up the young avenger. I may just don't understand youth these days as a 26 year old. But this was just like watching Turning Red. So many outdated 90s references that didn't land

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

This is even worse than ms. Marvel somehow. Even more cringe, and even less of a story. I just found this show hard to watch and felt forced to do so
