Excellent death sequences with a genuinely fun twist.

The first time I watched Blade Runner 2049, I thought it was just okay. I was mostly turned off by the incredibly slow pacing and toned down emotions. Revisiting it, I am far more struck by the gorgeous visuals, and compelling themes of voluntary slavery as well as the clever labyrinthine plot about destiny and identity.
Absolutely beautiful film that manages to speak volumes without ever saying a word. Incredibly engaging and emotionally satisfying. Brilliant work that silently establishes setting, characters, and relationships in a genuinely impressive way that also feels utterly unique and innovative.
