Murder on the Orient Express

1974

★★★ Watched

"That is not my Poirot!" My girlfriend shouted at the tv. I wish I had that level of commitment for the visual medium. Maybe one day.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

1992

★★★½ Rewatched

The Oscar in 1993 should've gone to Michael Caine goddammit! With one hand tied behind his back by muppets he still delivers a performance that makes Al Pacino and Robert Downey Jr look like child actors (I guess, I haven't seen Scent of a Woman or Chaplin).

The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog

1927

★★★½ Watched

It's nice to see that Hitchcock already from start was the master of suspense, and also that his... interest in blondes was a life long ion.

The ending is a bit cheesy and I wish Hitchcock would've been allowed to keep his original.

The Lost World

1925

★★★★ Watched

Dinosaurs are cool, however blackface is not.

Really cool flick and the dinosaurs look great. Some of the characters really shines through with great moments involving catapults, wrestling and monkeys while some others have shallow stories with morale dilemmas without consequences.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

2014

★★ Rewatched

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Treasure Planet

2002

★★★½ Rewatched

It's a great story portrayed in an innovative new way! The feels are really turned up to eleven for this one. Please set more classic literature in a space setting, but have less comedic sidekicks. Please.

Dune: Part Two

2024

★★★★ Watched

The beautiful cinematography almost makes up for the lack of Sting in metallic underwear.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

1939

★★★★ Watched

It's very brave move to in 1939 make such a strong statement of the equality of races, especially the romani, and to praise the freedom of press and free speech. Of course there are things in the movie that hasn't aged that well, but in many aspects it takes a surprisingly modern take on things.

Many actors get their chance to shine in the movie, like Maureen O'Hara as Esmeralda who makes a real character with depth out of something…

Bram Stoker's Dracula

1992

★★★ Watched

This movie is part of my master scavenger hunt challenge. Challenge #12 asks for a film from your birth uear. My birth year is 1992 so I've chosen Bram Stokers Dracula.

It's a story we've seen countless of times before as well as after but somewhat modernized. It's okay. Not the best Dracula and not the worst. The costumes as well as hair and makeup is what really stands out. On the good side that is.
Young Keanu and…
