I didn't actually hate the aesthetic choices, maybe because I don't have any nostalgic feelings for the original. I also quite like Bill Skarsgård. There in does not it's biggest sin lie. The biggest sin is that it's incredibly boring.

A perfect movie is hard to come by. A movie where casting, acting, editing, pacing, sound, writing and directing all come together to form the perfect result. Even when looking at the best movies of all time, it's always possible to find a flaw or something they could've done a bit better. The film is still as great, but not every bit is as perfect as it could've been.

This was clearly not for me. I didn't care for the design choices and the plot is mostly there to introduce character which can sell toys. Some of the voice acting was fun but for a lot of characters it didn't work. Maybe we should leave the voice acting to the voice actors and not to actors who can't really act in the first place.
