w/ Dad (theater) (7:10pm - 10:25pm)

The hype is absolutely real, no one is lying or being paid to juice this up, it’s genuinely that spectacular. It’s such a rare experience to have a film that feels this massive and immersive and monumental release right now. I believe these movies will be held up with the greatest film series in science fiction/fantasy. 

This movie makes the first feel like a giant prologue, this is the meat of the story, it’s exactly what I was hoping for. The characters are fantastic, there is so much more time spent developing them and their relationships, I really cared about everything that was happening. Paul’s journey is heart wrenching and foreboding. Everyone’s performance is outstanding, especially Austin Butler who is unbelievably intimidating and unsettling. 

The massive action set pieces made me ascend to a higher place of existence. Literally jaw dropping, like my mouth was literally open and I couldn’t control my massive grin. Of course the cinematography was absolute perfection, Greg Fraser is a legend. The sound design/mixing, music, and VFX were all incredible keeping me gripped in the world. Part 2 retroactively makes part 1 a much better movie, now having the full story in focus.

I cannot wait to experience this again.
