May thy knife chip and shatter.

First time watch.

Odeon Luxe Isense - Midnight screening.

+ Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to seek revenge on the conspirators who destroyed his family.

'Dune: Part Two' has been one of my most anticipated films since the credits started to roll on 'Dune: Part One', it has been a long wait, as it had to be push back to this year as it was delayed due to the strikes that took place last year, now that time has come to dive back into the world of Arrakis and see what exactly Denis Villeneuve has been cooking for over the last couple of years. And oh boy, he has definitely cooked...

Denis Villeneuve has already made one of the greatest sci-fi sequels of all time in 'Blade Runner 2049' for which it sured the predecessor for which I gave both 'Blade Runner' & 'Dune: Part One' 5* so in regards, the question is, would Villeneuve be able to go two for two??? The answer is yes. Villeneuve has achieved the impossible!

His direction is stunning. He is simply a fantastic director. I haven't got any words to really describe him cause everyone loves and appreciate Villeneuve. He has become of the best working director in the last 10 years! He is especially becoming a legend in the sci-fi genre given his last four films are all great pieces of sci-fi work.

The theme of fear in 'Dune: Part One' is replaced with power. A story where the good guy win might be a bad thing. I got the 'Dune' book but I have to finish it, so I will definitely have to start it now and will finish it for sure.

The cast here, some of them delivers their career best performances - the main one being Timothée Chalamet. That man shocked me to my core while I was watching his performance especially with certain scenes and monologues that Chalamet had to deliver. Zendaya was incredible as was Rebecca Ferguson. Javier Bardem is the one that surprised me the most, he turns Stilgsr into a minor role into a major role, where he brings humour. I really enjoyed his performance. Austin Butler was another surprise who plays Feyd-Rautha , cause it didn't look like Austin Butler, and that's he's going to be a future star, one film he's unrecognisable as the king of rock n' roll then the next film he's unrecognisable as someone who is a psychopath like Feyd-Rautha. Christopher Walken is decent and I do think that Florence Pugh and Léa Seydoux does their best with their very small roles. Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin and Dave Bautista are great aswell.

I said earlier that this was pushed back due to the strikes, if it wasn't then it would have major impacts on this year's Oscar season especially with 'Oppenheimer' for the technical awards, so I'm just going to dive right in to them...

I want to start with the cinematography which was done by Greig Fraser who helmed last year's 'The Creator', Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' and obviously 'Dune: Part One'. And just like the latter film, Fraser showcases why he is just as a important part to this franchise along with Villeneuve. The beauty that this film has to offers is just out of this world 😉. Every shot, every frame is like a painting. Maybe that down to Fraser or to how Villeneuve wants to frame his film, but no doubt that Fraser is one of the best working in the business right now! And just like 'Dune: Part One' Greig Fraser is coming for that Oscar this time next year.

People say you have to see this in IMAX cinemas, but from my experience, you need to see this in a cinemas with Dolby speakers, cause it's some of the best sound I've heard from a film. I went to a midnight screening and let me tell you that the sound coming out of the speakers definitely helped me to stay awake. Haha. The sound is vibrating, it's bombastic, it's bone shaking. It takes your soul. It's part of the whole experience. Another Oscar being locked in? 🤔

Looking back on 'Dune: Part One', it came to a surprised that I forgot that film won the Oscar for best editing, so in this case, 'Dune: Part Two' should win 100 Oscars for best editing, Joe Walker returns to the world of Arrakis. A major part of the editing process is how to pace films, this film is paced so well, the almost 3hrs went by. It never dragged. Thats how you know a editor has done their job. And for Joe Walker, a massive applause should be going his way, cause working on a film that contains many complex layers like this one, requires the highest amount of praise, so well done Joe Walker. Yet another Oscar on his way?

Someone else who has followed Villeneuve back to Arrakis is composer Hans Zimmer. Zimmer won the Oscar for his work for the score. That particular score was something most people wouldn't hear again in their lives, that is until they watch 'Dune: Part Two'. Once again, Zimmer has just achieved something impossible, I was blown away by his score again. I'm going to say this phrase again, but could another Oscar be on Zimmer's award shelf? Who knows, but this is the early contender giving we are only in March.

If we get 'Dune: Messiah' , this will go down as arguably the greatest sci-fi & fantasy epic of all time! But I trust Villeneuve to take his time with the project to put his all most care and heart and ion into the project.

Have you ever witness something for the first time that will stick in your memory for a long time? For me, the first time I ever saw 'Seven Samurai' and 'Lawernce Of Arabia' are those that will stick with me. And I will put 'Dune: Part Two' up there. This was a experience that I will never never forget...

This is Denis Villeneuve's magnum opus.

This is why we love going to the cinema.

Overall, 'Dune Part Two' is the counter balance to all the mediocre blockbusters we have been getting over the years. It simply perfect in every way possible from a story telling to technical achievements. Denis Villeneuve managed to make the world feel massive in scale and able to make characters have complex layers and for them to be compelling. This is a thrilling, thought-provoking and soulful beautiful film that I wanted from a big sci-fi epic for so long. ♥️♥️♥️
