Dune: Part Two

A gargantuan, visually and narratively ambitious piece of space opera that sees the ascension of this messiah through his trials with the Fremen and through the galactic threads with which his ascension is due in large part. It’s clear Chalamet has found a clear groove with the complexity of his character and, with Villeneuve’s growing taste and ability for sci-fi spectacle, leads this project to being one of the best films of the 2020s thus far. Same truly goes to the rest of the cast as well. Pugh, Butler, Ferguson, Bautista all deliver on the promises with which their previous performances and careers have led us to believe into this point. The final hour of this not only brings everything together in a satisfying way but also brings with it a promise of something even better, gigantic and soul-shattering. Fuck. When is it loyalty and when is it worship?

“You shall die… you may see… the beauty and the horror.”
