Final Destination Bloodlines

“Death doesn’t like it when you mess with his plans.”

I have to start out by gushing about the fact that I got to watch not only the original Final Destination on the big screen but the brand new sequel right after! I was already hyped for Bloodlines, but my excitement spiked as soon as the credits for the original started rolling. I was kicking my feet and impatiently waiting during the 15-minute intermission.

The opening scene might just be the…

Opus

Really glad that I was able to see an early screening of this one! Opus feels like a few other movies that I love (Midsommar, Blink Twice, The Menu specifically) but with its own spins on the similar concepts. The performances from everyone are great but especially from Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich. I have to give it a point for catchy original music too. It has humor that lands, an unsettling blast of a final act, and an interesting ending that ties the entire experience together.

I hope Ayo does more horror work because she truly kills it as a horror heroine!

These movies never fail to make me emotional, no matter how many times I watch them because of how attached I am to so many characters in this universe.

Kill Theory

I hadn’t heard of this but a friend recommended it, and I’m so glad that I watched it. I had a lot of fun with this. It has that gritty, trashy 2000s horror vibe that hits just right when it’s executed well enough.

It’s kind of like if Bodies Bodies BodiesTalk to Me, and the episode of Gravity Falls with the body-switching carpet had a child.

I really love this! The friend group dynamics, the perfect balance of comedy, on top of the rising tension throughout its runtime makes for a wild trip. The editing is spectacular and probably enough on its own to keep your eyes glued to the screen. Definitely one of the funnest releases of the year for me!

Totally Killer

“Fucking time travel.”

Totally Killer has been one of my most anticipated movies for over a year now, ever since the announcement of Olivia Holt’s casting. I had high hopes for that alone, adding on the fact that a campy, time travel slasher-comedy sounded so fantastic. And it is!

Right away, the movie hooked with its Halloween atmosphere. The plot picks up quickly and keeps the beat the entirety of its runtime! I never found myself bored, actually growing more…
