Dune Part Two is triumph and it sures Part One in every single way. After 60 years since the book was published, and after a couple of adaptations and other attempts to re-adapt the original book, Denis Villeneuve has delivered the one and only true big-screen interpretation of the original book. While Part One was viewed as the setup, Part Two brings the story into full circle, but also takes it to a whole new level by expanding its scale and world-building even further heights. Powerhouse performances from Timothée Chalamet who is now the definitive Paul Atreides, followed by Zendaya having a bigger role and stronger presence, and also followed by Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem giving memorable performances. Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha steals every scene he’s in and leaves a menacing impression of a pure psychotic villain. Greig Fraser’s cinematography is at its finest and it is awe-inspiring, and Hans Zimmer’s score is still spectacular to listen to and even more epic.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies are a tour de force of epic proportions and replicate a grandiose sci-fi epic in the vein of the OG Star Wars trilogy and to Peter Jackson’s TLOTR trilogy. I hope it doesn’t take long to get Dune Messiah in the near future.
