Things I loved about Part Two:
• The opening scene is amazingly exciting. It picks up perfectly where Part One ends, gets you right in the mood. Sets the tone, this is gonna be a much more brutal ride.
• I loved Stilgard in this, he brings a comedic side and lightens the mood to an otherwise really intense movie experience. The religious fervor around Paul’s character is most outspoken by Stilgard, I can sense how Villenueve wants to bring the true point of the book, its a cautionary tale, and maybe Paul isnt the hero we all think he is.
•First time Paul riding a sandworm! It’s exhilarating, it makes you want to cheer!
•The tension between Chani and Paul, I really liked that Chani is one of the few who doesn’t buy into this prophet propaganda that swirls around Paul. Frank Herbert would have been proud about this.
•The gladiator sequence! Sucha a storng visual style, loved it. And actually surprised by Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha. Would have loved a little more of Lea Seydoux.
•Really liked the aspects of meeting a new culture and understanding their ways.
•This movie is absolutely EPIC. Its like the Lawrence of Arabia of modern times, a huge scope.
•Denis might just be one of the few directors who has done not just one but two sequels that have lived and maybe even sured the original one. The other being Blade Runner 2049.
•Also how can we ignore that huge surprise in Pauls visions after he drinks the water of life. I really hope Denis gets to do Dune: Messiah.
