In 1993, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka were on trial for the murders of three teen girls: Tammy Homolka, Leslie Mahaffy, and Kristen French. Evidence for this case included graphic videotapes of the sexual abuse and torture of the victims. The Chief Justice presiding over the case decided that although the press and public should not be able to see the videos as the jury watched them. However, they were permitted to listen to the audio.
