Mit "Wall-E" hat Pixar ihr Meisterwerk geschaffen und gleichzeitig einen Film kreiert, den jung und alt verstehen, schätzen und sich davon faszinieren lassen.

Einzig und allein dem wunderbaren und herzallerliebsten kleinen Roboter geschuldet, der mit ein paar wenigen Mimiken und Gestiken ganz Sätze ausdrücken kann. Dabei schafft es der Film in der ersten Hälfte komplett, auf Sprache zu verzichten und zeigt dem Zuschauer die Welt durch die Augen von dem kleinen "Wall-E". Die Animateure haben hier das Ideal an Animationskunst erschaffen und es ist immer und immer wieder eine Freude dem kleinen Wall-E bei seiner Arbeit, beim Tanzen, beim Verlieben und nebenbei beim Retten der ganzen Welt zuzuschauen.
Dabei versprüht er in jeder Sekunde soviel Sympathie und Wärme, dass es nur sehr schwer zu fassen ist, daß man einem am Computer erschaffenen Roboter beim Aufräumen der Erde zuschaut.

Der Humor ist zwar immer da, aber ordnet sich hier toll seiner Figur und der sehr gelungenen Story unter.

Untermalt ist der Film mit einer tollen Musik, die an vielen Stellen so toll eingesetzt wird, dass sie selbst ganze Szenen erklärt und unser kleiner "Wall-E" sich damit sogar ausdrücken kann.

Außerdem grandios verpackt sind so tief- und hintergründige Botschaften zum Besitzwahn der Menschen , der kolossalen Umweltverschmutzung und der Gier nach immer mehr. All die Punkte, von denen wir wissen, dass sie uns irgendwann in den Abgrund treiben werden und nach denen wir doch Tag für Tag streben.
Schon damals war die KI der heimliche Bösewicht, weil die Menschen sich lieber von ihr berieseln lassen, statt Dinge anzupacken oder selbst nachzudenken und dabei sogar zu faul zum laufen geworden sind.

Ein Film mit beängstigender Weitsicht, der einem als Zuschauer trotzdem zu jedem Zeitpunkt S und Freude macht und zum Schluss dann auch noch sehr hoffnungsvoll zurück lässt. Ein Meilenstein von Pixar!

With "Wall-E," Pixar has created their masterpiece and simultaneously created a film that young and old alike can understand, appreciate, and be fascinated by.

This is due solely to the wonderful and adorable little robot, who can express entire sentences with just a few facial expressions and gestures. The film manages to completely dispense with language in the first half and shows the viewer the world through the eyes of little "Wall-E." The animators have created the ideal of animation art, and it is always a joy to watch little Wall-E at work, dancing, falling in love, and, incidentally, saving the entire world.
He exudes so much sympathy and warmth in every second that it's hard to believe we're watching a computer-generated robot clean up the Earth.

The humor is always there, but here it's perfectly subservient to his character and the very successful story.

The film is accompanied by great music, which is used so well in many places that it even explains entire scenes, and our little "Wall-E" can even express himself with it.

Also brilliantly packaged are profound and subtle messages about humanity's obsession with possession, colossal environmental pollution, and the greed for ever more. All the things we know will eventually drive us into the abyss, yet we strive for them day after day.

Even back then, AI was the secret villain because people prefer to be bombarded by it instead of tackling things or thinking for themselves, and have even become too lazy to walk.

A film with frightening foresight that nevertheless provides the viewer with fun and enjoyment at every moment and leaves you feeling very hopeful at the end. A milestone from Pixar!

Der Film "Fanboys" ist Durchschnitt. Die erste Hälfte hat keinen echten Erzählfluss und dümpelt unbeholfen von einer schnellen Szene zur anderen, um das hirnrissige, aber tatsächlich lustige Unternehmen der vier Jungs irgendwie zu begründen.

Der Cast der vier Jungs ist aber eine große Stärke des Films. Alle verschmelzen zu einer wahren Einheit, triefen vor Sympathie und "die Macht" ist mit ihnen allen.

Kristen Bell ergänzt die Truppe später perfekt, aber jeder Junge der sich nicht auf Anhieb in sie verknallt hätte, hat die Macht auch nicht verdient😄

Dazu kommen hochkarätige Nebendarsteller. Allen voran Carrie Fisher, deren Szene herausragend ist, Billy Dee Williams und sogar der "verfeindete" William Shatner, die hier sichtlich S an ihren Rollen haben. Etwas schade dass George Lucas nicht noch selbst auftritt, aber es hilft die mythische Aura zu wahren.

Dazu kommen viele viele kleiner und großer Momente, die jedem Fanboy das Herz höher schlagen lassen.
Ständig sind Sounds aus den original Star Wars Filmen zu hören. Ein Filmzitat folgt dem nächsten und teilweise werden ganzen Szenen der Original Teile toll nachgespielt.

Und genau das hat mich dann tatsächlich gepackt und auch berührt und mir vor Augen gehalten, welche Macht Star Wars buchstäblich auch mal auf mich hatte, bevor es zum Internet-Disney-Imperium verkommen ist. Wie ich als Kind selbst die Macht ausprobiert hatte (wenn ich mich nur ganz fest anstrenge, klappt es bestimmt), wie meine Freunde und ich uns selbst die Zitate an die Köpfe geschmissen haben und wie wir natürlich aus jedem gewöhnlichen Stock im Wald ein Laserschwert erdacht haben.

Star Wars hatte die Macht! Star Wars hat so viel bewegt und geprägt und hat man sich das wieder ins Gedächtnis gerufen, versteht man wie wichtig es 1999 war, Episode 1 im Kino anzuschauen und dass es durchaus der letzte große Wunsch, eines krebskranken Jungen gewesen sein kann, diesen Film noch vor seinem Tod zu sehen.

Und wenn man dann noch erfährt, dass die Geschichte real ist und dass George Lucas tatsächlich und in Wirklichkeit einem krebskranken Jungen kurz vor seinem Tod den Film gezeigt hatte, dann durchdringt und umfließt einen die Macht in aller Stärke.

The film "Fanboys" is average. The first half lacks any real narrative flow and clumsily plods from one fast-paced scene to the next, trying to somehow establish the idiotic, yet actually funny, endeavor of the four boys.

The cast of the four boys is, however, a great strength of the film. They all blend into a true unit, oozing sympathy, and "the force" is with them all.

Kristen Bell later perfectly complements the group, but any boy who doesn't immediately Fall in love for her doesn't deserve the force. 😄

Added to this are top-notch ing actors. Above all, Carrie Fisher, whose scene is outstanding, Billy Dee Williams, and even the "enemy" William Shatner, who clearly enjoy their roles. It's a bit of a shame that George Lucas doesn't appear himself, but it helps maintain the mythical aura.

Added to this are many, many small and big moments that will make any fanboy's heart race.

Sounds from the original Star Wars films can be heard constantly. One movie quote follows the next, and sometimes entire scenes from the original installments are brilliantly reenacted.

And that's exactly what grabbed me and touched me, reminding me of the power Star Wars literally had over me, before it degenerated into an internet Disney empire. How I had experimented with the Force myself as a child (if I just try really hard, I'm sure it will work), how my friends and I would throw the quotes at each other, and of course, how we invented a lightsaber out of every common stick in the woods.

Star Wars had the Force! Star Wars has moved and shaped so many things, and when you recall that, you understand how important it was to see Episode 1 in the cinema in 1999, and that it may well have been the last great wish of a boy with cancer to see this film before his death.

And when you then learn that the Story is real and George Lucas actually showed the film to a boy suffering from cancer shortly before his death, then the force flows through and around you in all its strength.

Bis jetzt weiß ich nicht genau was mich an dem Film gestört hat. War es der immergleiche Gesichtsausdruck von Shaileene Woodley oder der langsame Erzählfluss? Oder die manchmal langatmigen Dialoge? Oder das Gefühl, dass viele Szenen immer etwas besser möglich gewesen wären?

Und gleichzeitig mochte ich den Film, da er ein tolles Szenario, in einem unverbrauchten Setting, mit tollen Darstellern bietet. Der oben erwähnte immergleiche Gesichtsausdruck t zur Rolle und Shaileene Woodley ist hier und generell sowieso immer gut.
Nur war mir die Einordnung ihrer Rolle bis zum Schluss zu unrund. Eine Streifenpolizistin, die zufällig immer vorne am Geschehen dabei ist, wird zur Beraterin befördert und sitzt ohne nennenswerte Erfolge trotzdem bei allen Chefmeetings mit am Tisch bis zum etwas ungelenken Finale. Vielleicht ging nur mir so, aber ich war hier ständig am überlegen, wie und warum das grade sein kann.

Zurück zu den Basics: Die Kamera fängt viele tolle Shots ein (die letzte Szene mit dem Killer!) und auch die Musik weiß zu packen und zu ergreifen.

Dazu ist die Story gut und spannend, allerdings war mir die eigentliche Auflösung des Rätsels dann irgendwie zu banal und zu leicht aufgelöst. Hier hätte ich aus irgendeinem Grund noch einen größeren Twist erwartet. Aber hey, der Titel des Films lautet "To catch a killer". Vermutlich eben einfach mit geerdeter und fundierter Ermitttlungsarbeit.

Ben Mendelssohn war schön auf der Leinwand zu sehen, allerdings war sein Spiel für mich etwas zu drüber. Jovan Adepo war für mich dagegen eine Entdeckung und ich würde mich freuen, weitere Filme mit ihm zu sehen.

Guter und etwas altmodischer Thriller der S macht, aber auch ein paar Schwächen offenbart.

To this day, I'm not sure exactly what bothered me about the film. Was it Shaileene Woodley's repetitive facial expression or the slow narrative flow? Or the sometimes long-winded dialogue? Or the feeling that many scenes could have been improved?

And at the same time, I liked the film because it offers a great scenario, in a fresh setting, with great actors. The aforementioned repetitive facial expression fits the role, and Shaileene Woodley is good here and generally anyway.

But I felt that her role was too uneven until the end. A patrol officer who just happens to be at the forefront of the action is promoted to consultant and, without any notable success, still sits at every executive meeting until the somewhat awkward finale. Maybe it was just me, but I was constantly wondering how and why that could be.

Back to basics: The camera captures many great shots (the last scene with the killer!), and the music is also gripping and moving. The story is good and exciting, but the actual solution to the mystery was somehow too banal and too easily resolved for me. For some reason, I was expecting a bigger twist here. But hey, the title of the film is "To Catch a Killer." Probably just a grounded and well-founded investigation.

Ben Mendelssohn was great to see on screen, but his acting was a bit over the top for me. Jovan Adepo, on the other hand, was a discovery for me, and I would be happy to see more films with him.

A good and somewhat old-fashioned thriller that's fun, but also reveals a few weaknesses.

Sehr gelungener Actioner, mit einer Hauptperson mit sehr viel Tiefgang und Backgroundgeschichte. Toll gespielt von Ben Affleck, dessen etwas einfaches Spiel hier sehr gut zur Rolle t. Er trifft stets den richtigen Ton, so dass man ihm sowohl den steifen Buchhalter, als auch den Killer, aufgebaut auf einem autistischen Leiden, abnimmt. Allein diese Beschreibung zeigt schon sehr gut, dass einem hier nicht der Actionheld aus dem Standardkatalog präsentiert wird.

Genauso ist die Story nicht einfach nach Schema F gedreht, sondern überrascht mit einem tollen Aufbau, gelungenen Wendungen und einem durchgehend gut inszenierten roten Faden. Die Rückblenden sind sowohl in der Anzahl, als auch von der Dramaturgie immer end eingebaut.

Anna Kendrick spielt perfekt zu ihrer Rolle, welche dann aber leider doch das typische Abziehbild einer Damsel in Distress ist und die ganze Grundmotivation unseres "ant" welche auf ihr aufbaut, erschließt sich einem nicht ganz, da die Beziehung viel zu schnell konstruiert wird.
Alle anderen Darsteller sind solide und machen S.

Sehr erfrischend empfand ich, dass die Actionszenen rar eingestreut, dafür dann aber qualitativ hochwertig choreografiert und inszeniert sind. Die schiere Power einer Gewehrkugel oder eines Schlages kommen hier voll durch.

Ein Film der fast durchgängig immer die richtige Balance zwischen Spannung, Story, Humor und Action findet und dadurch extrem unterhaltsam ist.

A very well made action film with a main character with a great deal of depth and backstory. Superbly played by Ben Affleck, whose somewhat simplistic acting fits the role very well. He always hits the right tone, so that you believe him as both the stiff ant and the killer, who is built on an autistic condition. This description alone clearly shows that this isn't your run-of-the-mill action hero.

Likewise, the story isn't simply a formulaic one, but surprises with a great structure, well-crafted twists, and a consistently well-staged theme. The flashbacks are always well-integrated, both in number and dramaturgy.

Anna Kendrick plays her role perfectly, which unfortunately ends up being a typical damsel in distress, and the entire underlying motivation of our "ant," which is built around her, isn't entirely clear, as the relationship is constructed far too quickly.

All the other actors are solid and entertaining.

I found it very refreshing that the action scenes are few and far between, but are choreographed and staged with high quality. The sheer power of a bullet or a punch comes through fully here.

A film that almost consistently strikes the right balance between suspense, story, humor, and action, making it extremely entertaining.

Der Creature Horror hat so viele Negativbeispiele zu bieten, dass es schwer ist, einen positiven Vertreter zu akzeptieren. Doch genau das ist "The Shallows".

Die Prämisse ist natürlich extrem simpel, dennoch überzeugt der Film mit einer innovativen und überzeugenden Inszenierung, einer guten Musik und noch dazu einer starken und bezaubernd schönen Blake Lively als Hauptdarstellerin.

Außerdem zolle ich dem Film Respekt dafür, was er mit dem sehr begrenzten Setting macht. Strand, Wal, Fels, Boje. Fertig. Mehr Orte braucht es nicht, um hier doch große Spannung zu erzeugen, grade weil man bei den kurzen Distanzen immer selbst überlegt, ob man die Strecke zu schwimmen nicht doch schaffen würde. So bleibt der Film zumindest als Zuschauer plausibel.

Das verliert sich dann aber zum Finale, wenn eine eigentlich halbtote Protagonistin, plötzlich doch wieder zur Olympiaschwimmerin verkommt. Dazu ist sie Macgyver und Dr. House in einer Person. Das hat mich dann doch immer wieder etwas aus der filmischen Illusion herausgezogen.
Und natürlich auch der Punkt, dass die Macher immer neue Ausreden finden, warum die hübsche Blake immer noch ein Stückchen mehr von ihrem Neoprenanzug zerschneiden muss😄

Die Effekte sind leider nur mittelmäßig. Der Hai l ist größtenteils sehr gut animiert. Das wechselt sich aber mit miesen Delfinen und komisch aussehenden Nachtszenen ab.

Und trotzdem ist der Film spannend, gut gefilmt, an manchen Stellen positiv neu gedacht und einfach nur gelungen.

Creature horror has so many negative examples that it's difficult to accept a positive example. But that's exactly what "The Shallows" is.

The premise is, of course, extremely simple, yet the film convinces with innovative and convincing direction, good music, and, to top it all off, a strong and enchantingly beautiful Blake Lively as the lead actress.

I also respect the film for what it does with its very limited setting. Beach, whale, rock, buoy. That's it. It doesn't need any more locations to create great tension, especially because, given the short distances, you're constantly wondering whether you could actually swim the distance by yourself. This keeps the film plausible, at least for the viewer.

But that all falls apart in the finale, when a protagonist who was actually half-dead suddenly becomes an Olympic swimmer again. She's also Macgyver and Dr. House rolled into one. That always pulled me out of the cinematic illusion.

And of course, the fact that the makers keep finding new excuses as to why pretty Blake always has to cut up a little more of her wetsuit. 😄

Unfortunately, the effects are only mediocre. The shark is mostly very well animated. However, this is interspersed with lousy dolphins and strange-looking night scenes.

And yet, the film is exciting, well-shot, positively reimagined in some places, and simply successful.

Wie sehr habe ich mir eine richtige Neuverfilmung dieses Stoffes gewünscht und herbei gesehnt.
Diese Geschichte vor dem Hintergrund der französischen Revolution fasziniert mich seit nunmehr fast 30 Jahren, als ich sie zum ersten Mal im Nachmittags-Programm von rtl2 gesehen habe. Jede Folge wurde Tag für Tag herbei gesehnt und steigerte sich besonders im letzten Viertel in eine unfassbare Dramatik, welche bis heute zum Ideal des Geschichtenerzählens gehört.

Und nun bringt Netflix also fast stillschweigend eine 110min Version dieser im Original über 900min langen Geschichte heraus. Die Macher haben sich dazu entschieden, Bilder und Szenen der Original-Serie zu verwenden, zu überarbeiten und tatsächlich auch mit neuen Szenen aufzufüttern.

Positiv muss erwähnt werden, dass die Bilder gut aussehen und das Makeover größtenteils funktioniert.

Leider sind die Szenen aber so willkürlich und ohne jedes Gespür für Dramaturgie oder Emotion aneinander geschnitten, dass ich immer wieder den Kopf schütteln musste. Manche Szenen machen ohne das Wissen der gesamten Geschichte, überhaupt keinen Sinn. Dazu wurden Schlüsselszenen einfach umgeschrieben und zwar in jedem Fall zum schlechteren. Figuren die den Kern der Geschichte mit bilden, werden komplett ignoriert.

Besonders die ach so tragische Liebesgeschichte zwischen der Kommandantin Oscar und ihrem Diener André wird hier zum Schluss total vermasselt, so dass ich kaum mehr hinschauen konnte. All die wichtigen Nuancen und Emotionen des Originals, werden hier einfach überrollt mit einer vermeintlich tollen moderneren Idee der Story.

Klar muss die Geschichte in einem Bruchteil der Zeit untergebracht werden, aber Laufzeit war anscheinend genug vorhanden, da nun plötzlich alle 5min ein Musikstück mit nichtssagenden und vor Kitsch nur so triefenden Texten abgespielt wird. Was soll das denn bitte? Der Score des Originals war wunderschön und packend und nun werden japanische Gesänge zum Finale abgespielt. Unfassbar und für mich ein Frevel am Stoff.

Ich hoffe also immer noch dass sich Hollywood dieser Story noch ernsthaft annimmt und ich zu meinen Lebzeiten davon noch einen tollen Film sehen werde. Dieser hier, war das leider sicher nicht. Mir blutet das Herz!
Eigentlich nur 1 Stern, aber wegen der immer noch bewegenden Geschichte, gibt's 1 Stern mehr.

How I've longed and yearned for a proper remake of this story.
This story, set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, has fascinated me for almost 30 years now, ever since I first saw it on RTL2's afternoon program. I longed for each episode day after day, and especially in the last quarter, it built up to an incredible drama that remains the ideal of storytelling to this day.

And now, Netflix is ​​almost silently releasing a 110-minute version of this story, which was originally over 900 minutes long. The creators decided to use images and scenes from the original series, rework them, and even add new ones.

On the positive side, it must be mentioned that the images look good and the makeover largely works.

Unfortunately, the scenes are edited together so arbitrarily and without any sense of drama or emotion that I kept shaking my head. Some scenes make no sense at all without knowing the entire story. In addition, key scenes were simply rewritten, and in every case for the worse. Characters who form the core of the story are completely ignored.

The oh-so-tragic love story between Commander Oscar and her servant André is completely botched at the end, so much so that I could hardly watch it anymore. All the important nuances and emotions of the original are simply overwhelmed by a supposedly great, more modern story idea.

Of course, the story has to be packed into a fraction of the time, but there was apparently enough running time, since suddenly a piece of music with meaningless lyrics dripping with kitsch is playing every five minutes. What's the point of that? The original score was beautiful and gripping, and now Japanese chants are being played for the finale. Unbelievable and, in my opinion, a sacrilege.

So I'm still hoping that Hollywood will take this story seriously and that I'll see a great film based on it in my lifetime. Unfortunately, this one certainly wasn't it. My heart bleeds! Normally only 1 star, but because of the still moving Story 1 additional star.

Für mich ist Tom Cruise Der größte Filmstar unserer Zeit und außer dem furchtbaren "Legende" hat er, keinen einzigen Film gemacht der eine niedrigere Letterboxd-Wertung als 3 Sterne rechtfertigen würde. Der realistische Durchschnitt liegt eher bei 4.

Was genau sagt die Doku einem nun aber, was man noch nicht über diesen mega Star weiß:

Seine Filme werden einzeln und chronologisch nahezu vollständig aufgezählt. Wichtige Meilensteine werden teilweise aber nur im Nebensatz oder gar nur in einer Grafik erwähnt.
Seine Tiefs mit seinen gescheiterten Beziehungen finden ebenfalls Erwähnung.
Dazu natürlich Scientology und der gegenseitige Einfluss den beide sich in einer perversen Symbiotik verschrieben haben.
Und ab der Hälfte zwingt die Doku Tom Cruise dann einen viel zu gewollten und konstruierten Jugendwahn auf, der vermutlich auf 50% aller alternden Hollywood Heroes en würde.

Aber all das kennt man nicht nur, man hätte einfach gerne mehr Tiefe und mehr Hintergründe, als ein simpler Kommentar aus dem Off oder eine eingeblendete Schlagzeile.

Einzig der Vergleich vom Regisseur von "Interview mit einem Vampir", Neil Jordan, der das Leben von Tom Cruise mit dem eines tatsächlichen Vampirs vergleicht, ist brutal ehrlich und regt zum Nachdenken an.

Ansonsten leider nur eine mittelmäßige Doku über einen Megastar.

For me, Tom Cruise is the greatest movie star of our time, and apart from the terrible "Legend," he hasn't made a single film that would justify a Letterboxd rating lower than 3 stars. The realistic average is more like 4.

So what exactly does the documentary tell you that you don't already know about this mega-star?

His films are listed individually and chronologically, almost completely. Important milestones, however, are sometimes only mentioned in ing or even in a graphic.

His lows and failed relationships are also mentioned.

And, of course, Scientology and the mutual influence that both have committed themselves to in a perverse symbiotic relationship.

And from the halfway point onwards, the documentary forces a much too deliberate and constructed obsession with youth on Tom Cruise, which would probably fit 50% of all aging Hollywood heroes.

But not only are we familiar with all of this; we would simply like more depth and more background than a simple voiceover or a flashed-up headline.

Only the comparison by the director of "Interview with the Vampire," Neil Jordan, who compares Tom Cruise's life to that of an actual vampire, is brutally honest and thought-provoking. Otherwise, unfortunately, just a mediocre documentary about a megastar.

No matter if it's 1% or 100% scripted: this thing is just a lot of fun!

Ich wollte "A Real Pain" wirklich mögen. Ich freute mich auf diesen Film und liebe Jesse Eisenberg. Dazu fand ich die Kombination mit Kieran Culkin sehr gelungen und sein Oscar-Gewinn musste ja ein Indiz für Großartigkeit sein.

Und tatsächlich bilden beide nicht nur ein tolles Leinwand-Duo sondern spielen sich auch wirklich die Seele aus dem Leib. Jesse Eisenberg spielt eigentlich wie in vielen seiner bisherigen Rollen und überzeugt damit trotzdem voll und ganz. Kieran Culkin blüht ebenfalls voll auf in einer Rolle, die ihm auf den Leib geschneidert scheint. Ob aber Oscar würdig, sei mal dahingestellt.

Der Film ist toll gedreht, die echten Sets und Locations fesseln und nehmen einen mit auf diese Reise der zwei so ungleichen Cousins. Die Nebendarsteller sind allesamt end für ihre Rolle und überzeugen ebenfalls.

Und trotzdem war "A Real Pain" für mich hauptsächlich eins: langweilig. Ja es gibt drei, vielleicht vier emotionale Szenen die gut und gelungen sind. Dazwischen ist aber so viel Raum, welcher mit Nichtigkeit und einfach nur durchschnittlich netten Szenen gefüllt ist, dass man einfach nur gerne zur nächsten Szene möchte. Das ist so schade, da alle Zutaten da sind und man die guten Absichten vom Regisseur und Autor Eisenberg wirklich erkennen kann. Und trotzdem wirkt alles halbgar.

Für mich ein klassisches Beispiel eines Films, welcher beim Rewatch tatsächlich eine ganz andere Bewertung bekommen könnte. Heute und jetzt hat er mich aber, bis auf wenige Ausnahmen, leider nicht gepackt.

I really wanted to like "A Real Pain." I was looking forward to this film and I love Jesse Eisenberg. I also thought the pairing with Kieran Culkin was a great fit, and his Oscar win had to be a sign of greatness.

And indeed, the two not only make a great on-screen duo, but they also truly give their all. Jesse Eisenberg actually plays like he does in many of his previous roles and is still completely convincing. Kieran Culkin also blossoms in a role that seems tailor-made for him. Whether it's Oscar-worthy, though, remains to be seen.

The film is beautifully shot; the real sets and locations are captivating and take you on this journey of these two very different cousins. The ing actors are all well-suited to their roles and equally convincing.

And yet, for me, "A Real Pain" was mainly one thing: boring. Yes, there are three, maybe four emotional scenes that are good and well-executed. But there's so much space in between filled with nothingness and just averagely nice scenes that you just want to get to the next one. That's such a shame, because all the ingredients are there and you can really see the good intentions of director and writer Eisenberg. And yet everything still seems half-baked.

For me, this is a classic example of a film that could actually get a completely different rating upon rewatch. Unfortunately, most of it didn't grab me today.

Wie man auf die Idee kommen kann, einen Film über einen Schuh zu machen, ist fast genauso verrückt wie der Deal den Nike mit Michael "Air" Jordan in den 80ern gemacht hat.
So profan und langweilig sich die Story anhört, so toll, lustig und vor allem lebendig ist sie aber inszeniert. Auch wenn wir größtenteils Männer im Büro sitzen und diskutieren sehen, pulsiert der Film und man fiebert mit Matt Damon, Jason Bateman und Ben Affleck mit, dass sich die Familie Jordan doch für Nike entscheidet.

Alle drei spielen richtig gut und es macht echten S ihnen hier bei der Arbeit zuzuschauen. Besonders Ben Affleck ist mit seiner Art immer etwas drüber und macht die Figur des Nike-Bosses damit extrem sympathisch.

Natürlich ist der Film ein Hohelied auf Kommerz und Kapitalismus, aber zu der Zeit hatte die Welt gefühlt noch das richtige Maß dafür, welches uns vermutlich im Laufe der letzten 40 Jahre dann doch etwas abhanden gekommen ist.
Überhaupt wirkt es so, dass Affleck und seine Set Designer extrem viel Liebe und Herzblut in den Nachbau der 80er gesteckt haben. Alles wirkt echt und authentisch.

Mir gefällt die Struktur des Films und dass er sich auch Zeit für die kleinen Momente zwischendrin nimmt, wie z. B. der Basketball Dialog am Kiosk-Schalter.
Und natürlich dass Springsteens Born in the USA hier tatsächlich in einer eigenen Szene erst textlich analysiert und dann auch noch komplett ausgespielt wird.😎

How anyone could come up with the idea of ​​making a film about a shoe is almost as crazy as the deal Nike made with Michael "Air" Jordan in the 80s.
As mundane and boring as the story sounds, it's brilliantly staged, funny, and above all, lively. Even though we mostly see men sitting in the office discussing things, the film is vibrant, and you root for Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, and Ben Affleck that the Jordan family will choose Nike after all.

All three act really well, and it's genuinely fun to watch them at work. Ben Affleck, in particular, is always a bit over the top with his manner, making the character of the Nike boss extremely sympathetic.

Of course, the film is a celebration of commerce and capitalism, but at the time, it felt like the world still had the right balance, something we've probably lost a bit over the past 40 years.

Overall, it seems like Affleck and his set designers put a lot of love and ion into recreating the 80s. Everything feels real and authentic.

I like the structure of the film and the fact that it takes time for the little moments in between, like the basketball dialogue at the kiosk counter.
And of course, that Springsteen's "Born in the USA" is actually analyzed lyrically in a separate scene and then played out in its entirety. 😎

Dunk and ready! 🏀👟

"Upgrade" ist toll gemacht, sieht hochwertig aus, hat eine überzeugende Kameraarbeit und auch der Score hat mir gefallen. Dazu kommt eine unverbrauchte Story über eben jene Tech-Upgrades und ihre Vor- und Nachteile.

Logan-Marshall Green spielt die Rolle des liebenden Mannes, behinderten Opfers und des mordenden Cyborgs sehr gelungen. Von Rolle zu Rolle springt er glaubhaft, auch wenn er zum Schluss mehrfach an den T1000 erinnert.
Alle anderen Darsteller fand ich dagegen ausnahmslos schwach bis mittelmäßig.

Die letzte Minute des Films ist der Hammer und ganz stark ausgewählt und umgesetzt. Die ganze Auflösung bis dahin ist jedoch sehr zäh und war ab der Mitte des Films schon absehbar und offensichtlich. Dadurch wurden die eigentlich nur guten Grundzutaten dann etwas verwässert.
Dennoch ein guter Film mit Rewatch Faktor.

"Upgrade" is beautifully made, looks high-quality, has convincing camerawork, and I also liked the score. Added to that is a fresh story about those tech upgrades and their advantages and disadvantages.

Logan-Marshall Greene plays the role of the loving husband, the disabled victim, and the murderous cyborg very well. He jumps from role to role believably, even if he repeatedly reminds us of the T1000 at the end.

I found all the other actors, without exception, to be weak to mediocre.

The last minute of the film is amazing and very well chosen and executed. The entire resolution up to that point, however, is very slow and was already predictable and obvious by the middle of the film. This somewhat diluted the otherwise good basic ingredients.

Still a good film with a rewatch factor.

Nach der ersten Sichtung im Kino, die mich annähernd sprachlos zurückgelassen hat, hatte ich Angst vor dem Rewatch. Vielleicht ist der Film doch nicht so gut. Vielleicht wollte ich ihn mir damals auch nur gut denken?

Und was soll ich sagen:

Beim Rewatch geht's nochmal einen halben Stern hoch, hin annähernd zur Perfektion.
Der Film hat zwar definitiv Momente die etwas unausgegoren sind und ja es ist Männerkino, aber hey: who cares?

Die gesamte Inszenierung, die gigantische Kameraarbeit, der Sound und die von Minute zu Minute immer packendere Musik sind für mich auf dem allerhöchstens Level.
Einfach nur fantastisch!

Dazu Tom -fucking- Cruise in Bestform in jeder Sekunde des Films. Gigantisch gut unterstützt von einem durchweg saucoolen Cast rund um Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Jennifer Connelly und Glen Powell.
Ein Meisterwerk und für mich das Ideal an Actionkino.

After the first viewing in the cinema, which left me almost speechless, I was afraid to rewatch it again. Maybe the film isn't that good after all. Maybe I just wanted to think it was good back then?

And what can I say:
What - a - great - movie!

The rewatch raises it another half star, almost to perfection.
The film definitely has moments that are a bit half-baked, and yes, it's a man's movie, but hey: who cares?

The entire production, the fantastic camerawork, the sound, and the increasingly gripping music by the minute are, for me, of the highest order.

Simply fantastic!

Plus, Tom-fucking- Cruise is at his best in every second of the film. He's incredibly well ed by a consistently awesome cast including Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Jennifer Connelly, and Glen Powell.

A masterpiece and, for me, the ideal of action cinema.

That's cinema!

Beim späten zappen direkt am Anfang hängen geblieben und erneut begeistert vom faszinierend, beängstigenden Spiel von Gerald Butler in "Gesetz der Rache" . Für mich eine seiner besten Rollen überhaupt, wohingegen Jamie Foxx fast etwas abfällt und mir manchmal etwas zu teilnahmslos durch die Handlung geführt wird.

Die drastische und teils sehr bildliche Gewaltdarstellung schockiert immer wieder, verdeutlicht aber umso mehr die alles oder nichts Einstellung von Butlers Charakter Clyde. Hier gibt's keine Kompromisse mehr und ab jetzt wird richtig gespielt.
Ich musste tatsächlich an Game of Thrones denken, weil auch hier ist keine Figur sicher und man muss um jeden Angst haben.

Logiklöcher gibt's aber spätestens ab der zweiten Hälfte zuhauf und minimieren die Qualität des Film dann stark.
Positiv bleibt aber, dass der rote Faden, Clydes "Säuberrungsaktion", durch die tolle Inszenierung alles überstrahlt und ich zumindest dann über die zu einfachen Drehbuchtricks, fast hinwegsehen könnte.
Außerdem war mir das Ende zu glatt und hier hatte mehr Konsequenz dem Film gut getan.

Moralisch ist das alles natürlich immer an der Grenze, da die Selbstjustiz ziemlich unverhohlen auf ein hohes Podest gestellt wird. Gleichzeitig realisiert man das aber beim Anschauen des Films und fragt sich ständig, für welche Seite man denn nun eigentlich insgeheim sein möchte.

Die Kamerabilder müssen noch extra erwähnt werden, weil die wirklich gelungenen Shots von Philadelphia mit seinen Hinterhöfen und Autobahnauffahrten, Gerichtsgebäuden und Nobelvierteln sind aus meiner Sicht sehr gelungen und es macht S einen Film anzuschauen, der wirklich draußen gedreht wurde.

While channel surfing late, I was caught right at the beginning and once again enthralled by Gerald Butler's fascinating, frightening performance in "The Law of Vengeance." For me, this is one of his best roles ever, whereas Jamie Foxx almost falls a bit short and is sometimes led through the plot a bit too apathetically for me.

The drastic and at times very graphic depiction of violence shocks again and again, but it all the more clearly illustrates the all-or-nothing attitude of Butler's character, Sheldon. There are no more compromises here, and from now on, the game really gets going.

I actually thought of Game of Thrones, because here, too, no character is safe and you have to fear for everyone.

But there are plenty of logical gaps, starting at the second half at the latest, which significantly diminish the quality of the film.

On the positive side, however, is that the central theme, Sheldon's "clean-up," outshines everything else thanks to the excellent direction, and at least then I could almost overlook the overly simplistic script Tricks.
Also, the ending was too smooth for me and the film would have benefited from more consistency.

Morally, of course, all of this is always borderline, as vigilantism is quite blatantly placed on a high pedestal. At the same time, however, you realize this while watching the film and constantly ask yourself which side you secretly want to be on.

The camera footage deserves a special mention, because the truly well-crafted shots of Philadelphia, with its backyards and freeway ramps, courthouses, and upscale neighborhoods, are, in my opinion, very well done, and it's fun to watch a film that was actually shot outdoors.

Nachdem ich vor kurzem endlich "Oppenheimer" nachholen konnte, stand quasi der Schwesterfilm "Barbie" nun auch endlich auf dem Programm, sodass "Barbenheimer" komplettiert wurde.

Was nun aber davon halten, von diesem fast schon kulturellen Phänomen? Am meisten sticht für mich zunächst Ryan Gosling hervor. Es ist eine einzige Freude ihm bei seiner Rolle und dem Erwachen seiner Männlichkeit zuzuschauen. So toll, stark und wunderschön Margot Robbie als die titelgebende "Barbie" abliefert, so unfassbar sig dreht Ryan Gosling auf.

Generell ist der Humor sehr gelungen, das liegt hier aber vermutlich nochmal einen Tick mehr im Auge des Betrachters, da diese Gags immer wieder doch sehr speziell sind. Mir hats aber gefallen😄

Das Production-Design von Barbieland und Kendom ist so unfassbar drüber und damit einfach perfekt gelungen. So etwas hat man noch nicht gesehen.

Bei der Feminismus-Message, welche einem mit vollen Händen ins Gesicht gerieben wird, bin ich noch etwas zwiegespalten. Generell finde ich die Art und Weise sehr gelungen und auch dass sie überhaupt in diesem Kontext geliefert wird.
Weshalb aber ausnahmslos alle Männer trotzdem totale Volltrottel, dumm, einfach und generell nicht liebenswert sind, verstehe ich nicht.

Die sicher richtige Ent-brainwash-Rede der Barbies, könnte anders herum genau so gehalten werden. Der Hinweis dazu, oder zumindest ein kleiner Blick auf die andere Seite, fehlen mir hier.

Trotzdem ein toller Film, der einen auf eine positive Reise mitnimmt, S macht und dabei auch noch zum Nachdenken anstößt.

After I finally caught up on "Oppenheimer" recently, its sister film "Barbie" was finally on the schedule, so "Barbenheimer" was finally complete.

So what do I think of this almost cultural phenomenon? Ryan Gosling stands out the most for me. It's a joy to watch him in his role and the awakening of his masculinity. Margot Robbie's performance as the titular "Barbie" is so great, strong, and beautiful, Ryan Gosling is incredibly funny.

In general, the humor is very well done, but that's probably a bit more in the eye of the beholder here, as these gags are always quite unusual. I liked it though😄

The production design of Barbieland and Kendom is so incredibly over-the-top and simply perfectly executed. You've never seen anything like it.

I'm still a bit torn about the feminist message that's being shoved in your face. Overall, I think the approach is very successful, and also that it's even delivered in this context.
But why, without exception, all men are complete idiots, stupid, simple, and generally unlovable, I don't understand.

The Barbies' brainwashing speech, while certainly correct, could be delivered the other way around. I'm missing a hint of that, or at least a glimpse of the other side.

Still, a great film that takes you on a positive journey, is fun, and also thought-provoking.

Vorab sei erwähnt, dass die Doku auf Amazon prime bei Minute 50 ohne Grund einfach aufhört und somit die letzten Minuten ausspart.

Trotzdem eine schöne Doku über JCVD, einem Mann der eine Vielzahl an offensichtlichen Hürden überwunden hat, um seinen Traum des Hollywoodstars zu verwirklichen: zu klein, schlechtes Englisch, keine Ausstrahlung und vieles mehr. Mit tollen Freunden, einem eisernen Willen, viel Selbstbewusstsein und sicher auch einem kleinen bisschen Glück, hat Van Damme sein Ziel aber definitiv erreicht.

Das er zunächst Besitzer eines Belgischen Fitnessstudios oder der Assistent von Chuck Norris war, ist einer der vielen interessanten Fakten dieser Doku.
Das immer wieder gelesene Gerücht, dass er in dem Predator-Kostüm steckt, wird hier detailliert beleuchtet und wie sein bester Freund Mohammed ihm die Rolle für "Bloodsport" organisiert, ist noch dazu ein echtes Highlight, der ihn dann bald zu einem der größten Hollywoodstars der 90er machte.

Umso trauriger dann sein Absturz durch Drogen, falsche private Entscheidungen und den damit verbundenen Direct to Video Veröffentlichungen.

Mir hat die Doku vor allem nochmal vor Augen geführt, was für ein unfassbarer Athlet Van Damme doch war und dass er für mich auch definitiv immer eine gewisse Ausstrahlung auf der Leinwand hatte. Sein legendärer Spagat auf dem Ringseil in "Karate Tiger" war für mich als Kind nicht nur wegen der eigentlichen Akrobatik höchst faszinierend, sondern eben auch wegen Van Dammes Art, die er dieser Figur gab.

"Harte Ziele", "Sudden Death", "Bloodsport" "Ohne Ausweg" oder "Universal Soldier" sind sicher keine höchst anspruchsvollen Filme, jedoch eindeutig Genreperlen und eben Filme, die ich mir immer wieder sehr gerne anschauen kann.

First of all, it should be mentioned that the documentary on Amazon Prime simply stops at minute 50 for no reason, thus omitting the last few minutes.

Nevertheless, it's a great documentary about JCVD, a man who overcame numerous obvious hurdles to realize his dream of becoming a Hollywood star: too short, poor English, lack of charisma, and much more. With great friends, an iron will, a lot of self-confidence, and certainly a little bit of luck, Van Damme definitely achieved his goal.

That he initially owned a Belgian gym or was Chuck Norris's assistant is one of the many interesting facts about this documentary.
The oft-repeated rumor that he's wearing the Predator costume is explored in detail here, and how his best friend Mohammed arranged the role for him in "Bloodsport" is a real highlight, which soon made him one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 90s.

Which makes his downfall due to drugs, bad personal decisions, and the associated direct-to-video releases all the more sad.

Above all, the documentary reminded me once again of what an incredible athlete Van Damme was and that he definitely always had a certain charisma on screen. His legendary splits on the tightrope in "Karate Tiger" were extremely fascinating to me as a child, not only because of the actual acrobatics, but also because of the way Van Damme brought this character.

"Hard Target," "Sudden Death," "Bloodsport," "Nowhere to run," and "Universal Soldier" are certainly not particularly demanding films, but they are definitely genre gems and films that I enjoy watching again and again.

"Adolescence" hinterlässt einen wütend, frustriert, verzweifelt und schockiert. Leider aber auch sehr hoffnungslos und als Vater von zwei sehr kleinen Kindern auch wirklich verängstigt, vor dieser verrückten Welt in die diese Kinder geboren wurden.

All das macht diese Miniserie in 4h mit einem und man fragt sich danach, was man da grade durchlebt hat.

Faszinierend gefilmt durch 4 komplett durchlaufende One-takes, die das Gefühl verstärken, Teil der Geschichte zu sein.
Und nebenbei fragt man sich immer wieder "Wie verdammt nochmal machen die das bloß?"

Schauspielerisch sieht man hier ausnahmslos absolutes Top Niveau. Der Junge Owen Cooper und sein Serienvater Stephen Graham haben mich sprachlos zurück gelassen. Cooper in der Dritten und Graham in der vierten Folge sind pure Weltklasse und reißen einen mit so viel Gefühl und Hingabe mit.
Das Finale Ende ist so gut gespielt, daß es wirklich weh tut und die Tränen fließen in Strömen.
Aber auch ausnahmslos alle anderen Darsteller, egal ob jung oder alt, überzeugen voll und ganz und scheinen direkt aus dem echten Leben zu stammen.

Und bei all diesen unfassbaren Szenen hält die Kamera voll drauf und mit ihren schmerzhaften Nahaufnahmen und ruhigen Kamerafahrten sitzt man quasi neben den Figuren, läuft neben ihnen in der Schule und versteckt sich mit ihnen zu Hause. Kein erlösender Schnitt zur nächsten Szene. Nein, wir sind hier und das ist die Situation. Was würdest du jetzt tun?

Die Moral der Geschichte und auch der große Spiegel der einem direkt vor die Nase gehalten wird, wird mich noch ganz ganz lange zum Nachdenken bringen.

Der britische Premier Keir Starmer will die Serie zum Pflichtprogramm an Schulen machen. Aus meiner Sicht müssen wir alle diese Serie sehen, um so vielleicht in dieser verrückten Welt mehr Verständnis füreinander zu gewinnen.

"Adolescence" leaves you angry, frustrated, desperate, and shocked. Unfortunately, but also very hopeless, and as a father of two very young children, truly terrified of this crazy world these children were born into.

This miniseries does all of this to you in four hours, and you wonder what you just experienced.

Fascinatingly filmed with four complete one-takes, which reinforce the feeling of being part of the story.
And along the way, you keep asking yourself "How the hell do they do it?"

The acting is absolutely top-notch without exception. The young boy, Owen Cooper, and his on-screen father, Stephen Graham, left me speechless. Cooper in the third episode and Graham in the fourth are pure world-class and sweep you away with so much emotion and dedication.

The finale is so well-acted that it really hurts, and the tears flow freely. But without exception, all the other actors, young and old alike, are completely convincing and seem to come straight from real life.

And in all these unbelievable scenes, the camera focuses on the film, and with its painful close-ups and steady tracking shots, you're practically sitting next to the characters, running alongside them at school, and hiding with them at home. There's no redeeming cut to the next scene. No, we're here, and this is the situation. What would you do now?

The moral of the story, and the large mirror held up to our noses, will keep me thinking about it for a very long time.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer wants to make the series compulsory in schools. In my opinion, we all need to watch this series to perhaps gain more understanding for one another in this crazy world.

Die Geschichte von Dante's "Göttliche Komödie" ist auch hunderte Jahre nach ihrer Veröffentlichung faszinierend und fesselt ungemein. Welche Sünden hat man sich selbst aufgeladen? Wo ist man im eigenen Leben nicht tugendhaft und auf dem rechten Weg gewesen? Oder noch drastischer: welcher Kreis der Hölle ist für einen selbst bestimmt?

Dazu ist die Figur des Dante extrem ambivalent und hat man zunächst das Gefühl mit einem edlen Ritter auf die für ihn so ungerechte Reise zu gehen, erfährt man nach und nach, dass Dante selbst das größte Monster von allen ist.

Der Anime Film "Dantes Inferno", Koproduktion zum gleichnamigen und wie ich finde äußert gelungenen Playstation-Spiel, zeigt in mittelmäßigen Bildern und mit einem krassen Gewaltgrad Dantes Reise nun nach. Und so packend die eigentliche Geschichte, so durchschnittlich ist die Umsetzung. Besonders in der zweiten Hälfte geht dem Film die Luft aus, da dann zum unzähligsten Mal mit dem Endboss des jeweiligen Höllenkreises unnötig lange und nichtssagende Dialoge einander zugeschrien werden.
Danach geht dann die Metzelei los und ab zum nächsten Kreis. So gut das als Videospiel funktioniert, so langweilig ist es im Film umgesetzt.

Daher lieber zum Videospiel, oder noch besser direkt zum Buch greifen.

The story of Dante's "Divine Comedy" remains fascinating and captivating, even hundreds of years after its publication. What sins have you committed? Where in your life have you not been virtuous and on the right path? Or even more drastically: which circle of hell is yours?

The character of Dante is extremely ambivalent, and while you initially feel like you're embarking on a journey with Dante as a shining knights that seems so unjust to him, you gradually learn that Dante himself is the greatest monster of all.

The anime film "Dante's Inferno," a co-production of the PlayStation game of the same name, which I find extremely successful, depicts Dante's journey in mediocre images and with a blatant level of violence. And as gripping as the actual story is, the execution is just as average. The film runs out of steam, especially in the second half, as the final boss of each circle of hell is repeatedly shouted at with unnecessarily long and meaningless dialogue. Then the slaughter begins, and it's off to the next circle. While it works well as a video game, it's just as boring in the film.

So, it's better to pick up the video game, or even better, the book.

Was haben dieser Müll und der glorreiche "The Rock" mit Sean Connery und Nicolas Cage gemeinsam?
In beiden Filmen geht's um Geiseln auf beengten und für alle frei ersichtlichen Räumlichkeiten. Hier ist es die Tobin Bridge in der Bucht von Boston, bei "The Rock" ist es Alcatraz in der Bucht von San Francisco.
Und in beiden Filmen wollen ehemalige Elitesoldaten ihre Ehre durch eine Griselnahme wiederherstellen. Geiler Plan.

Doch während Ed Harris in "The Rock" eine Aura und Präsenz ausstrahlt, verkümmert der Bösewicht in "The Bridge" in jeder Szene zu einem armseligen Laienschauspieler. Ganz selten habe ich schlechteres und uninspirierenderes Schauspiel gesehen als das von Mason Gooding in dieser Rolle. Für mich eine echte Katastrophenleistung, die aber von allen anderen auch echt mies unterstützt wird. Hier wurde der Kaffeesatz an Schauspieler abgegriffen. Einzig die Hauptrolle in Form von Dylan Sprouse wirkt wenigstens motiviert. Gut wirds dadurch aber trotzdem nicht.

Die Effekte sind unterste TV Film Schublade und dürfen in dieser Form wirklich gar nicht auf die Leinwand kommen.

Wenn jetzt mit der eigentlich ganz spannenden Prämisse über eine wenigstens halbwegs spannende Handlung noch irgendetwas aufgebaut würde, wäre es zu verkraften, aber hier folgt ein Logikloch dem Nächsten.
Zwei Beispiele:
Die Bösewichte haben gleich am Anfang eine Drohne, eingesetzt wird sie dann mal nach der Hälfte. Nur um dann festzustellen, dass sogar noch ne zweite Drohne im Lkw liegt.
Dann ist da ein Scharfschütze, der, obwohl ein Ranger bereits drei seiner Kameraden ausgeschaltet hat, starr aufs andere Ufer zu den Polizisten schauen und nicht evtl die anderen Kameraden decken muss.

Actionszenen gibt's eigentlich nicht, nur unübersichtlich geschnittene Bewegungen, per CGI eingesetzte Kugeln die durch die Luft fliegen sollen und Feuerbälle aus der ganz schlechten Retorte.

Hier t echt nichts zusammen und der Film zieht sich furchtbar in die Länge. Seit langem der schlechteste Film den ich je gesehen habe.
Ich schau jetzt lieber nochmal "The Rock".

What do this garbage and the glorious "The Rock" with Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage have in common?
Both films are about hostages in cramped, publicly visible spaces. Here it's the Tobin Bridge in Boston Bay, in "The Rock" it's Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay.
And in both films, former elite soldiers seek to restore their honor by taking hostages. Awesome plan.

But while Ed Harris radiates an aura and presence in "The Rock," the villain in "The Bridge" degenerates into a pathetic amateur actor in every scene. I've rarely seen worse and more uninspiring acting than Mason Gooding's in this role. For me, a truly disastrous performance, but one that's also poorly ed by everyone else. The actors here are a mess. Only the lead role, Dylan Sprouse, at least seems motivated. But that still doesn't make it any good.

The effects are the lowest of the low for a TV movie and really shouldn't be on screen in this form.

If something were built on the actually quite exciting premise through an at least halfway exciting plot, it would be bearable, but here one logical hole follows the next.

Two examples:
The villains have a drone right at the beginning, and it's deployed halfway through, only to then discover that there's even a second drone in the truck.

Then there's a sniper who, even though a ranger has already taken out three of his comrades, stares across the river at the police officers and doesn't need to cover the other comrades.

There aren't really any action scenes, just confusingly edited movements, CGI-inserted bullets that are supposed to fly through the air, and fireballs from a very poorly engineered device.

Nothing really fits together here, and the film drags terribly. This is the worst film I've ever seen in a long time.

I'd rather watch "The Rock" again now.

Wer gedacht hätte, das Physik im Kino nicht auf den Zuschauer zu übertragen sei, der wird in "Oppenheimer" ganz deutlich eines Besseren belehrt. Angefangen von den vielen kleinen Teilchen, dargestellt in jedem möglichen Detail, bis hin zum total vorhersehbaren, aber dennoch ungeheuer faszinierenden Höhepunkt in Form der gezündeten Atombombe, bietet der Film wahnsinnig tolle, ergreifende und gleichzeitig auch beängstigende, visuelle Bilder. Das grandiose Sounddesign unterstreicht jeden Frame dazu mit einer präzisen Perfektion.

Die Musik ist äußerst gelungen, hat jedoch große Anlehnungen an Hans Zimmer und ich habe mich daher immer wieder gefragt, wie es wohl mit dem Original geklungen hätte.

Die Darstellerleistungen von allen Schauspieler:innen sind eine wahre Freude und ich spreche hier von dem wohl größten Cast der mir seit langem in einem Film begegnet ist. Ganz klar hervor sticht für mich Robert Downey Jr., der mit jeder Szene glänzt und besonders zum Schluss richtig aufdreht.
Cilian Murphy brilliert natürlich ebenso und die innerliche Zerrissenheit zwischen Pflichtbewusstsein, Neugier und Moral, wird von ihm grandios dargestellt.

Leider ist "Oppenheimer" aber ein Film mit zwei Handlungen, die aus irgendeinem Grund dann noch nicht linear in zig Versatzstücken erzählt wird.
Die erste Handlung hat den Fokus auf dem Bau der Bombe und hier punktet der Film mit jeder Szene, bis zum zutiefst ergreifenden Höhepunkt in Form des Trinity-Tests. Besonders hier greifen die die Kamera, die Effekte und der Sound perfekt ineinander.

Der zweite Part ist die Anhörung und Erniedrigung von Oppenheimer. Dieser Part hat sich mir sowohl zeitlich, als auch inhaltlich und vor allem nicht aus konsequenter Sicht erschlossen. Ok, ohne die Sicherheitsfreigabe hätte Oppenheimer wohl seinen Job verloren, aber was dann? Der Mann hat eine Atombombe entwickelt und galt gemeinhin als Genie. Vermutlich hätte er trotzdem ein sorgenfreies Leben führen können. Die Fallhöhe wurde hier nie aufgebaut und dadurch war dieser ganze part nicht nur nicht nachvollziehbar, sondern irgendwann auch einfach nur langweilig. Wer hat was wann zu wem gesagt und wer davon war vielleicht ein Kommunist? Und darum geht's gefühlt eine Stunde lang.
Die ebenfalls nicht erklärbaren und auch nicht notwendigen Zeitsprünge, schmälern das Sehvergnügen ebenfalls.

Tatsächlich haben mich die letzten 10Minuten dann wieder gepackt, was aber mehr an der Inszenierung, als an der Story lag.

Insgesamt hatte ich mir von einem Oscar Best Picture Win mehr erhofft.

Anyone who thought that physics couldn't be applied to the audience in cinema will be clearly proven wrong in "Oppenheimer." From the many tiny particles, depicted in every possible detail, to the completely predictable, yet incredibly fascinating climax in the form of the detonated atomic bomb, the film offers incredibly beautiful, poignant, and at the same time frightening visual images. The magnificent sound design underlines every frame with precise perfection.

The music is extremely well-crafted, but draws heavily on Hans Zimmer, and I found myself wondering again and again what it would have sounded like from the original.

The performances of all the actors are a true delight, and I'm talking about probably the greatest cast I've seen in a film in a long time. Robert Downey Jr. clearly stands out for me; he shines in every scene and really turns it up, especially at the end.
Cilian Murphy, of course, also shines, and he brilliantly portrays the inner conflict between a sense of duty, curiosity, and morality.

Unfortunately, "Oppenheimer" is a film with two storylines, which for some reason aren't told linearly in countless set pieces.

The first storyline focuses on the construction of the bomb, and here the film excels with every scene, right up to the deeply moving climax in the form of the Trinity test. Especially here, the camera, effects, and sound work together perfectly.

The second part is Oppenheimer's hearing and humiliation. This part didn't make sense to me both in of time and content, and above all, from a consistent perspective. Okay, without the security clearance, Oppenheimer would probably have lost his job, but then what? The man developed an atomic bomb and was generally considered a genius. He probably could have lived a carefree life anyway. The height of the fall was never established, and as a result, this whole part was not only incomprehensible, but at some point simply boring. Who said what to whom and when, and which of them was perhaps a communist? And that's what it's all about for what feels like an hour.
The equally inexplicable and unnecessary time jumps also detract from the viewing pleasure.

In fact, the last 10 minutes grabbed me again, but that was more due to the direction than the story.

Overall, I had hoped for more from an Oscar Best Picture win.

Am Allermeisten wird von "Like a complete unknown" die Darsteller Leistung eines jeden Einzelnen im Gedächtnis bleiben. Was Tymothee Chalamet, Monica Barbaro und Edward Norton hier auf die Leinwand zaubern ist wirklich atemberaubend. Chalamet ist für mich der Anker und das Herzstück des Films. In jeder Szene sowieso präsent, füllt er aber auch die Songs mit seiner beängstigend guten und sehr ähnlichen Bob Dylan Stimme perfekt aus.
Edward Norton möchte man den ganzen Film über an sich drücken, da man seinen Pete Seeger so sehr ins Herz schließt, dass die späteren Ablehnungen Dylans ihm gegenüber, einem selbst fast wehtun.
Und Monica Barbaros Stimme ist eine Offenbarung. Für mich die reinste Sensation und atemberaubend. Gepaart mit dem tollen Schauspiel bin ich wirklich sehr gespannt was wir von ihr noch erwarten dürfen.

Und was bleibt sonst von "Like a complete unknown" ?
Gute Frage....

Eine echte Story gibt's nicht, die Handlungen der Figuren, besonders der Hauptfigur wirken oft willkürlich und leider fehlt ganz oft das Warum. Dazu fällt der Film im zweiten Drittel in ein ziemliches Loch, was ihn ca 20min zu lang erscheinen lässt.
Die Kamera, die Ausstattung und der Sound ist sehr gelungen. Dazu wirken die Sets und Kostüme echt und aus der Zeit der 60er.

Obwohl mir Bob Dylan und auch seine Songs nur von der Oberfläche bekannt sind, überzeugen und berühren die Songs so sehr, dass ich mehrfach echte Gänsehaut hatte.

Viel Licht und etwas Schatten, aber wegen der Darsteller trotzdem ein echtes Highlight.

What will remain most memorable in "Like a Complete Unknown" is the performance of each individual actor. What Tymothee Chalamet, Monica Barbaro, and Edward Norton conjure up on screen is truly breathtaking. For me, Chalamet is the anchor and heart of the film. Present in every scene, he also perfectly fills the songs with his frighteningly good and very Bob Dylan-like voice.
You want to hug Edward Norton throughout the entire film, as you take his Pete Seeger so close to your heart that Dylan's later rejections of him almost hurt you.

And Monica Barbaro's voice is a revelation. For me, it's a pure sensation and breathtaking. Coupled with the great acting, I'm really excited to see what else we can expect from her.

And what else remains of "Like a Complete Unknown"?

Good question....

There's no real story; the characters' actions, especially the main character's, often seem arbitrary, and unfortunately, the reason is often missing. Additionally, the film falls into a serious hole in the second third, making it seem about 20 minutes too long.

The cinematography, production design, and sound are all very well done. The sets and costumes also seem authentic and from the '60s.

Although I only have a superficial knowledge of Bob Dylan and his songs, the songs are so compelling and touching that I got goosebumps several times.

A lot of light and a bit of shadow, but still a real highlight thanks to the actors.

Ohne jemals das Original von Sidney Lumet gesehen zu haben, hat mich dieses Remake voll überzeugt. Vor allem der Fakt dass man zu jeder Minute überlegt, wie man selbst in dem unklaren Fall entscheiden würde, ist ein echtes Highlight.
Ich selbst bin mehrfach hin und her zwischen schuldig und unschuldig geschwankt und bin selbst immer wieder die vorgetragenen Beweise durchgegangen. Der Film zeigt damit perfekt auf, dass "Fakten" nur soviel wert sind, wie derjenige der sie überzeugend vorträgt. Ein schwaches Argument, kann gut vorgetragen trotzdem überzeugen.

Überzeugend ist auch der Cast, auch wenn hin und wieder das TV-Film Niveau durchkommt. Jack Lemmon, Tony Danza, James Gandolfini und Co harmonieren als Ensemble aber hervorragend und liefern im Gesamten sehr gut ab. Armin Müller-Stahl sticht für mich hervor und t perfekt in die Rolle des gebildeten und etwas elitären Gentlemans.
In jeder Person findet man etwas von sich selbst wieder und dadurch kommen einem die Charaktere nochmal deutlich näher.

Das minimalistische Setting und die überzeugende Inszenierung lassen einen die Enge, den Druck, die Hitze und die Verzweiflung der Protagonisten sehr gut spüren und ziehen einen direkt mit hinein, in diesen kleinen Nebenraum des Gerichtssaals.

Einzig das letzte Viertel lief für mich zu glatt in die vorgegebene Richtung, ohne echten Höhepunkt am Ende. Das war dann fast etwas enttäuschend.

Ich habe durch dieses sehr gelungene Remake aber wahnsinnige Lust auf das Original bekommen und hab das direkt auf meine Watchlist gepackt.

Without ever having seen Sidney Lumet's original, this remake completely won me over. Above all, the fact that you're constantly considering how you would decide in this ambiguous case is a real highlight.
I myself vacillated between guilty and innocent several times and repeatedly went over the evidence presented. The film perfectly demonstrates that "facts" are only worth as much as the person presenting them convincingly. A weak argument, but well-presented, it can still be convincing.

The cast is also convincing, even if the TV movie quality comes through now and then. Jack Lemmon, Tony Danza, James Gandolfini, and co. harmonize excellently as an ensemble and deliver very well overall. Armin Müller-Stahl stands out for me and fits perfectly in the role of the educated and somewhat elitist gentleman.
You find something of yourself in each person, which brings you even closer to the characters.

The minimalist setting and convincing staging allow you to feel the confines, the pressure, the heat, and the despair of the protagonists very clearly, drawing you right into this small side room of the courtroom.

Only the last quarter, for me, flowed too smoothly in the pre-established direction, without a real climax at the end. That was almost a bit disappointing.

But this very successful remake has made me incredibly keen to see the original, and I've immediately added it to my watchlist.

Halber Stern hoch beim Rewatch. Obwohl mir der Film, die Story und mehrere Szenen noch im Gedächtnis waren, fesselte mich die packende Inszenierung, das wirklich grandiose Schauspiel und die mitreißende Musik an den Bildschirm.

Adding half a star for the rewatch. Although I still ed the film, the story and several scenes, the gripping production, the truly magnificent acting and the stirring music kept me glued to the screen.

In einem so unrealen und verrückten Geschäft wie dem Profifußball, wirkt Thomas Müller bei jedem Spiel und jedem Auftritt immer noch wie ein ganz normaler Mensch. Einer wie keiner eben.
Dieses besondere und spezielle Spitzbübische seines Typs, kommt in der Doku aber viel zu selten durch. So stechen die privaten Aufnahmen im Kreise seiner Familie, sowie die viel zu kurzen Interviews mit seiner Frau, aus der typischen Abfolge an Saisonverläufen hervor. Mein persönliches Highlight ist die Schelte seiner Mama, weil Thomas direkt aus der Salatschüssel isst.

Das Sportliche wird leider viel zu unemotional abgearbeitet und von Saison zu Saison mehr oder weniger einfach abgehakt. Weltmeister ist in 5 Minuten fertig erzählt. Der CL-Triumph in Lissabon wird überhaupt gar nicht erwähnt.

Einzig die Beschreibung von Thomas Müllers Sicht vom "Finale Dahoam" berührt einen, da er seine Gefühle und Gedanken dieses so tragischen Spiels, wunderbar beschreibt.
Die Interviews mit seinen Wegbegleitern und Trainern verraten überhaupt nichts Neues und wirken wie aus der Retorte. Einzig Pep Guardiolas Worte sind hier noch am interessantesten.

So spannend, witzig, lebendig und ehrlich der Mensch Thomas Müller zu sein scheint, so wenig schafft es die Doku leider davon zu transportieren.

In a business as unreal and crazy as professional football, Thomas Müller still seems like a completely normal person in every game and every appearance. One like no other.
This special and specific mischievousness of his type, however, comes through far too rarely in the documentary. The private recordings with his family and the far too short interviews with his wife stand out from the typical sequence of seasons. My personal highlight is his mother scolding him because Thomas eats straight from the salad bowl.

The sporting side is unfortunately dealt with far too unemotionally and more or less simply ticked off from season to season. World champion is told in 5 minutes. The CL triumph in Lisbon is not mentioned at all.

Only the description of Thomas Müller's view of the "Finale Dahoam" touches you, as he describes his feelings and thoughts about this tragic game wonderfully.

The interviews with his companions and coaches reveal nothing new at all and seem to be artificial. Only Pep Guardiola's words are the most interesting here.

As exciting, funny, lively and honest as Thomas Müller seems to be, the documentary unfortunately manages to convey very little of that.

Jude Law ist meiner Meinung nach ein furchtbarer Schauspieler und Filme sind für mich wegen ihm, Grund genug sie nicht anzuschauen.

In "The Order" hat er mich aber ganz deutlich eines Besseren belehrt. Nicht nur er liefert hier eine sehr packende Performance ab, auch seine Costars Nicolas Hoult, Tye Sheridan und Jurnee Smollett überzeugen auf ganzer Linie.

Auch ansonsten weiß der Film zu Punkten. Die Story ist auch heute brandaktuell, superspannend und vor allem echt inszeniert. Wie wunderschön war es doch, wirklich echte Bilder der Sets und vor allem der Natur zu sehen. Die Landschaftsaufnahmen sind so toll in die ganze Inszenierung ei gearbeitet, dass es eine wahre Freude ist. Dazu kommt eine stimmungsvolle Musikuntermalung, die alles nur nochmehr abrundet.

Leider geht "The Order" aber im letzten Drittel etwas die Puste aus und das Ende wirkte für mich seltsam unrund. Durch das Einblenden von Texttafeln wird man als Zuschauer zwar über die weiteren Geschehnisse informiert, echte Emotion wird damit aber nicht erzeugt.

So bleibt bei mir das Gefühl, dass hier tatsächlich noch mehr drin gewesen wäre.

In my opinion, Jude Law is a terrible actor and for me, films are reason enough not to watch them because of him.

In "The Order" he clearly proved me wrong. Not only does he deliver a very gripping performance, his co-stars Nicolas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett are also convincing across the board.

The film also scores points in other ways. The story is still very topical today, super exciting and, above all, staged in a real way. How wonderful it was to see really real pictures of the sets and, above all, of nature. The landscape shots are so well worked into the whole production that it is a real joy. There is also atmospheric background music that rounds everything off even more.

Unfortunately, "The Order" runs out of steam in the last third and the ending seemed strangely off to me. The display of text s informs the viewer about what is to come, but it does not generate any real emotion.

So I'm left with the feeling that there really could have been more here.

"Black Hawk Down" gilt als einer der besten Kriegsfilme, der von fast 24 grausigen Stunden vom 03. Oktober 1993 in Mogadischu, Somalia erzählt.
Von Ridley Scott grandios inszeniert, mit vielen damals teilweise noch unbekannten Jungdarstellern und knallharter Action, hält der Film einem die krassen Stunden dieser 2 Tage vor Augen.

Die Doku ergänzt die Background-Geschichte nicht nur durch spannende Interviews von Soldaten der damaligen amerikanischen Einheiten, sondern auch von Kämpfern der Somalis und vor allem von Zivilisten, deren Heimat zum Schlachtfeld wurde.

Der Film "Black Hawk Down" schrammt sowieso nur knapp an der Verklärung der Ereignisse vorbei. Die Doku zeigt nun aber in aller Deutlichkeit welcher Schrecken von den amerikanischen Soldaten in die Stadt getragen wurde.
Dauerfeuernde Soldaten, Hubschrauber die im Tiefflug über Stunden feuernd über der Stadt kreisen und Opfer im Kreise der Familie. Schwer verletzte Familienmitglieder, verstümmelte und tote Kinder, sowie viele ältere tote Somalis. Diese Fakten waren mir bislang neu und schockieren zutiefst.

Und dennoch ist der Mut, die Loyalität und die Skills der Soldaten zu bewundern. Und man fragt sich unwiderruflich, wie man selbst in dieser Situation reagieren würde, wenn man aus allen Richtungen beschossen wird, das gesamte Umfeld total unklar ist und man von Minute zu Minute verzweifelter wird und in Todesangst steckt. Vermutlich würde man irgendwann auch auf alles schießen was sich bewegt. Was einem unbekannt vorkommt. Was irgendwie gefährlich sein könnte.

Die Doku schafft es grandios, beide Seiten toll zu durchleuchten und die jeweilige Perspektive aufzuzeigen. Und zeigt dabei ebenso, wie sinnlos Krieg ist und wie schnell die Gewaltspirale eskaliert.
Wenn aus einem humanitären Hilfseinsatz, mit zunächst extrem willkommen geheissenen Amerikanern, ein furchtbares Schlachtfeld wird, sind alle wirren und Irrungen der Welt auf dem Tisch.

Und wenn beide Seiten sich zum Schluss dann darauf einigen, dass dieser Tag ein ganz ganz furchtbarer und dunkler Tag war, wird schnell klar, dass hier keine Sieger hervor gekommen sind.

Etwas negativ sind die immer wieder im Sekundentakt eingespielten Action-Füller, nachgestellt im typischen Hollywood-Africa-Farbfilter. Das wirkt repetitiv, nicht lebendig und bremst die spannenden Interviews aus.
Außerdem hätte mich interessiert, wie die betroffenen Ecken der Stadt heute wohl aussehen. Die räumlichen Begebenheiten sind trotz Karten-Einblendungen nicht immer klar.

Und dennoch eine extrem starke und gelungene Doku. Ganz klare Empfehlung.

"Black Hawk Down" is considered one of the best war films, telling the story of almost 24 gruesome hours on October 3, 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Brilliantly directed by Ridley Scott, with many young actors, some of whom were still unknown at the time, and hard-hitting action, the film brings the brutal hours of these two days before your eyes.

The documentary complements the background story not only with exciting interviews with soldiers from the American units of the time, but also with Somali fighters and, above all, with civilians whose homeland became a battlefield.

The film "Black Hawk Down" only just avoids idealizing the events. But the documentary shows very clearly the horror that the American soldiers brought to the city.

Soldiers firing continuously, helicopters circling low over the city for hours firing, and victims in the circle of their families. Severely injured family , mutilated and dead children, and many older dead Somalis. These facts were new to me and shocking.

And yet the courage, loyalty and skills of the soldiers are to be ired. And you can't help but wonder how you would react in this situation if you were being shot at from all directions, the whole environment was completely unclear and you were becoming more desperate and scared to death by the minute. At some point you would probably shoot at everything that moved. Anything that seemed unfamiliar to you. Anything that could be dangerous in some way.

The documentary does a great job of examining both sides and showing their respective perspectives. And in doing so it also shows how pointless war is and how quickly the spiral of violence escalates.

When a humanitarian aid mission, with Americans who were initially extremely welcome, turns into a terrible battlefield, all the confusion and errors of the world are on the table.

And when both sides finally agree that this day was a very, very terrible and dark day, it quickly becomes clear that no winners emerged.

One negative aspect is the action filler sequences that are shown every second, recreated using the typical Hollywood Africa color filter. This seems repetitive, not lively, and slows down the exciting interviews.

I would also have been interested to see what the affected areas of the city look like today. The spatial conditions are not always clear despite the maps being displayed.

And yet it is an extremely strong and successful documentary. A clear recommendation.

Als die Fortsetzung vom gigantisch guten "Kindsköpfe" 2013 endlich ins Kino kam, war ich nach dem Kinobesuch extrem enttäuscht. Die Gags waren alle erzwungen, nervig schlechtes CGI, noch dazu völlig unnötig eingebaut und ein paar weitere Dinge.
Am meisten hat mich aber gestört, dass die Herzlichkeit und Inbrunst mit der alle Charaktere im Original mitspielen, hier leider oft fehlt. Adam Sandler gibt weiterhin alles, dafür ist Chris Rock total gelangweilt, ebenso verkommt Kevin James zum simplen Stichwortgeber.

Und leider fehlt Rob Schneider komplett und wird äußert nervig und dazu lange nicht gleichwertig durch Nick Swardson ersetzt.

Und doch hat mir der Rewatch nun deutlich besser gefallen, da die Gags entgegen der Erstsichtung nun doch oft funktioniert haben. Alle Nebencharaktere fügen sich toll ein, sind herrlich verspleent und auch die vielen Referenzen zum Original sind super gelungen.
Taylor Lautner, Adam Samberg und ganz besonders Steve Buscemi haben einen Heidenspaß auf der Leinwand und man muss sich bei ihren völlig abgedrehten Rollen einfach nur totlachen.
Dazu sind viele Situationen gut aufgebaut und geskriptet. Ohne Frage: ohne Tiefgang, total flach und trotzdem meistens lustig.

Genau so wie der gesamte Film. Das ganz große Herz ist nicht mehr drin, aber es macht trotzdem noch großen S.
Und Sandler als Springsteen, Rock als Prince, James als Meat Loaf... ein Kracher.

When the sequel to the incredibly good "Grown Ups" finally came to the cinema in 2013, I was extremely disappointed after seeing it. The gags were all forced, the CGI was annoyingly Bad and also unnecessary and a few other things.

What bothered me most, however, was that the warmth and ion with which all the characters act in the original is unfortunately often missing here. Adam Sandler continues to give his all, but Chris Rock is totally bored, and Kevin James also degenerates into a simple prompter.

And unfortunately Rob Schneider is completely missing and is replaced by Nick Swardson, who is extremely annoying and not nearly as good.

And yet I liked the rewatch much better, because the gags often worked, contrary to the first viewing. All the ing characters fit in well, are wonderfully quirky and the many references to the original are also very well done.

Taylor Lautner, Adam Samberg and especially Steve Buscemi have a lot of fun on screen and you just have to laugh yourself to death at their completely crazy roles.
Many of the situations are well constructed and scripted. Without question: no depth, totally shallow and still mostly funny.

Just like the whole film. It doesn't have a big heart anymore, but it's still a lot of fun.
And Sandler as Springsteen, Rock as Prince, James as Meat Loaf... simply a blast.

Muss ich den Film "Guilty Pleasure" nennen, nur weil ich ihn liebe, aber gleichzeitig weiß wie flach der eigentlich ist?

Von mir aus.

Ich liebe "Kindsköpfe" und auch nach dem sicher 20. Rewatch muss ich mich bei manchen Szenen immer noch totlachen.
Die Baumbeobachtung, der Wasserpark, die Baumschaukel oder auch ganz oft nur die kleinen Frotzeleien zwischen Kumpels; hier funktioniert alles und ist auch Jahrzehnte nach dem Kinostart immer noch wahnsinnig lustig.

Und je verrückter und abgedrehter die Welt in der Realität wird, umso mehr macht es einfach nur Freude einen Film zu sehen, der zu keinem Zeitpunkt einen negativen Moment beinhaltet. Hier geht's wirklich nur um S. S dieser Kindheitsfreunde, dieser Familien und S für den Zuschauer.
Das Leben genießen, die einfachen Dinge wert schätzen, Freundschaft, Humor, Liebe, Familie. All diese Dinge transportiert mir der Film jedes Mal aufs neue direkt ins Herz und das mit seiner zwar etwas verklärten, aber dennoch auch mit einer herrlich ehrlichen Art.

Und der gesamte Gedanke der endlich mal wieder digitalfreien Zeit, spricht wohl jeden an.

Die Harmonie des gesamten Casts ist der Wahnsinn, so dass man beim Zuschauen das Gefühl hat, selbst ein Mitglied dieser tollen Truppe, am Haus am See zu sein.

Ich liebe diesen Film, seine Gags, seinen Humor, den Soundtrack und vor allem Adam Sandler mit seinen Kindsköpfen.

Do I have to call the film a "guilty pleasure" just because I love it, but at the same time know how shallow it actually is?

Fine by me.

I love "Grown Ups" and even after at least 20 rewatches, some scenes still make me laugh my head off.

The tree watching, the water park, the tree swing or even just the little banter between friends; everything works here and is still incredibly funny decades after the cinema start.

And the crazier and more twisted the world becomes in reality, the more it is just fun to watch a film that never contains a negative moment. This is really just about fun. Fun for these childhood friends, these families and fun for the viewer.
Enjoying life, appreciating the simple things, friendship, humor, love, family. The film brings all of these things straight to my heart every time, in a way that is somewhat romanticized but still wonderfully honest.

And the whole idea of ​​a digital-free era at last appeals to everyone.

The harmony of the entire cast is amazing, so that when you watch it you feel like you are a member of this great group at the house by the lake.

I love this film, its jokes, its humor, the soundtrack and especially Adam Sandler together with his Grown ups.

Nach "Arcane" ein weiteres Highlight aus dem animierten Kino.

"Mars Express" liefert eine tolle und originelle Story, die aufzeigt was in der Zukunft wohl so auf uns zukommen kann, aber gleichzeitig auch, wie nah manche Dinge der Zukunft schon sind.

Die beiden Hauptcharaktere Aline und Ihr Androiden-Kollege Carlos sind dabei so interessant und spannend geschrieben, dass man als Zuschauer unbedingt jeden Ihrer weiteren Schritte verfolgen möchte. Beide haben ihre Stärken, aber definitiv auch ihre Schwächen, weshalb sie einem nur umso mehr ans Herz wachsen.

Die Optik ist in Ordnung, teilweise aber auch zu simpel und definitiv nichts wofür der Film in Erinnerung bleibt.

Vermutlich subjektiv negativ war für mich der zunächst schwierig zu greifende Kriminalfall und der fehlende stringente Faden zu Beginn. Wer sind diese Leute? Was genau ist jetzt das Problem? Und wohin fliegen wir eigentlich gerade?
Das mag beabsichtigt sein, mir ist der Einstieg durch die ersten 30min aber deshalb schwerer gefallen.

Dennoch ein guter Film mit Rewatch-Faktor.

After "Arcane", another highlight from animated cinema.
"Mars Express" delivers a great and original story that shows what the future might hold, but at the same time how close some things are to the future.

The two main characters Aline and her android colleague Carlos are written in such an interesting and exciting way that as a viewer you absolutely want to follow their every move. Both have their strengths, but definitely their weaknesses too, which is why you grow to love them all the more.

The visuals are fine, but in some parts they are too simple and definitely not something that will make you the film.

The criminal case, which was initially difficult to grasp, and the lack of a consistent thread at the beginning were probably subjectively negative for me. Who are these people? What exactly is the problem? And where are we actually flying to?

That may be intentional, but it made it harder for me to get through the first 30 minutes.

Still a good film with a rewatch factor.

Na wenn das mal kein gelungenes Regiedebüt von Zoe Kravitz ist. Viele der Stärken des Film kommen aus meiner Sicht von ihr, oder zumindest hat sie es geschafft die richtigen Leute aus dem jeweiligen Departement perfekt zu dirigieren.

Das Tempo stimmt, die Bildästhetik und Farbgebung ist fantastisch, der Ton und die Musik (selten wurde "Ain't nobody" besser eingesetzt) sind genial und auch die Darsteller wirken real und intensiv.

Channing Tatum ist für mich herauszuheben, da er einmal mehr sein Talent zeigen kann. Er wirkt von Anfang an verletzlich, soft und romantisch. Gleichzeitig aber auch beängstigend, geheimnisvoll und stark. Ganz tolle Leistung.

Haben alle Darsteller toll zu ihren Rollen get, waren es ausgerechnet die Hauptdarstellerin Naomi Ackie mit der ich nicht warm geworden bin. Auch wenn sie das letzte Drittel toll spielt, fand ich sie irgendwie unend für die Rolle. Das bleibt aber ein subjektives Gefühl.

Außerdem sollte schon erwähnt werden, wie groß wohl der Aufschrei wäre, wenn die Geschlechterrollen in dem Film vertauscht wären. Klar, der Vergleich hinkt. Dennoch bleibt der Gedanke daran.

Trotzdem ein richtig toller Film, mit super Bildern und einem ganz starken Channing Tatum!

Well, if that isn't a successful directorial debut from Zoe Kravitz. In my opinion, many of the film's strengths come from her, or at least she managed to perfectly direct the right people from the respective departments.

The pace is right, the visual aesthetics and color scheme are fantastic, the sound and music (rarely has "Ain't nobody" been used better) are brilliant and the actors also seem real and intense.

Channing Tatum is a standout for me because he can once again show his talent. He seems vulnerable, soft and romantic from the start. But at the same time scary, mysterious and strong. A really great performance.

While all the actors were great in their roles, it was the lead actress Naomi Ackie who I didn't warm to. Even though she plays the last third well, I found her somehow unsuitable for the role. But that remains a subjective feeling.

It should also be mentioned how big the outcry would be if the gender roles were reversed in the film. Sure, the comparison is flawed. But the thought remains.

Still, a really good film, with great images and a really strong Channing Tatum!

Was man dem neuen Ableger der "Herr der Ringe" Reihe zu Gute halten muss, ist dass er wirklich gut aussieht. Es ist nicht so, dass einen die Optik vom Hocker haut, allerdings haben die teilweise scheußlich aussehenden Trailer viel schlimmeres erwarten lassen. Gerade die Szenen im Schnee sind sehr gut gelungen und mit tollen kamerafahrten auch eingefangen.

Ein weiterer positiver Aspekt ist die immer noch wunderschöne Musik von Howard Shore und gerade das Rohan-Thema verursacht immer wieder Gänsehaut. Allerdings ist die Musik damit eben 1:1 aus der original Ring-Trilogie und überrascht daher zu keinem Zeitpunkt.

Die Story ist wirklich hahnebüchen und sowohl die Handlung als auch die Taten der Charaktere wirken oft auch unlogisch. Der ganze Antrieb und die Entwicklung des Antagonisten ergeben nicht wirklich Sinn und da sie so willkürlich wirken, verliert man irgendwann den Zugang zu der Figur.

Das ganze wird dann auf 2:14h gestreckt und erzeugt dadurch den größten Schwachpunkt des Films. Mindestens 30min hätten zwingend raus geschnitten gehört und selbst dann wäre hin und wieder Leerlauf geblieben. So streckt sich der Film teilweise ins unerträglich Langweilige.

Kein ganz schlechter Film, aber in keiner Weise mit den Meisterwerken von Peter Jackson zu vergleichen und eigentlich dürfen die Filme auch überhaupt nicht im gleichen Atemzug genannt werden.

What you have to give credit to the new offshoot of the "Lord of the Rings" series is that it looks really good. It's not that the visuals are mind-blowing, but the sometimes hideous-looking trailers made you expect much worse. The scenes in the snow in particular are very well done and captured with great camera movements.
Another positive aspect is the still beautiful music by Howard Shore and the Rohan theme in particular always gives you goosebumps. However, the music is 1:1 from the original Ring trilogy and is therefore never surprising.

The story is really ridiculous and both the plot and the actions of the characters often seem illogical. The whole drive and development of the antagonist doesn't really make sense and because they seem so arbitrary, you eventually lose touch with the character.

The whole thing is then stretched to 2:14 hours, creating the film's biggest weak point. At least 30 minutes should have been cut out and even then there would have been idle time and time again. The film stretches to the point of unbearable boredom at times.

Not a bad film, but in no way comparable to Peter Jackson's masterpieces and actually the films shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.

Eins vorweg: ich nutze diesen Eintrag auch als Review für die eigentliche Serie "Arcane".

"Arcane" wird mir wegen ganz vielen tollen Punkten in Erinnerung bleiben. Allen vorweg aber sicher für die großartigen grafischen Darstellungen, Animationen und Details die die Künstler hier über die Bildschirme laufen lassen. Jede Folge, jede Szene und ja, jedes Bild ist so grandios und vor allem immer end dargestellt, das man es fast schon perfekt nennen könnte. Ein wahrer Augenschmaus.

"Arcane" setzt das neue Ideal in Sachen Animation.

Dazu kommt eine so ehrliche, lebendige und echte Geschichte, die man Folge für Folge aufsaugt und immer mehr sehen möchte. In der zweiten Staffel ufert das allerdings etwas zu sehr ins mystische aus, so dass es mir im letzten Drittel fast zu anstrengend war. Es fängt sich in den letzten zwei Folgen wieder deutlich, davor war es aber eben zu wirr.

Aber als weiteres Highlight ist. dann da noch die Musik. Auch hier fügt sich ein akustischer Baustein in den anderen: ob klassische Klänge, harte Techno-Beats , Punk-Rock oder melodische Balladen. Selten hat eine Serie so tolle Harmonien geboten und sie dann noch so wunderbar mit dem optischen Bild verwoben. Grandios.

Jinx und Vi und alle anderen Figuren sind dazu außerordentlich toll charakterisiert und zu jederzeit wahrhaftig und ehrlich dargestellt. Fantastisch.

"Arcane" ist einzigartig und ein einziges Highlight. Und trotzdem war die doch etwas konfuse Story gegen Ende für mich ein großer Makel, der eine besser Wertung verhindert hat.

First of all: I am also using this entry as a review for the actual series "Arcane".

"Arcane" will stay in my memory for a lot of great things. But first and foremost for the great graphics, animations and details that the artists put on the screens. Every episode, every scene and yes, every image is so magnificent and, above all, always appropriately presented that you could almost call it perfect. A real feast for the eyes.

"Arcane" sets the new ideal in of animation.

Added to that is such an honest, lively and real story that you absorb episode after episode and want to see more and more. In the second season, however, it gets a little too mystical, so that the last third was almost too exhausting for me. It picks up again clearly in the last two episodes, but before that it was just too confusing.

But another highlight is the music. Here, too, one acoustic element fits into the other: whether classical sounds, hard techno beats, punk rock or melodic ballads. Seldom has a series offered such great harmonies and then woven them so wonderfully into the visual image. Magnificent.

Jinx and Vi and all the other characters are extraordinarily well characterized and portrayed truthfully and honestly at all times. Fantastic.

"Arcane" is unique and a real highlight. And yet the somewhat confusing story towards the end was a big flaw for me, which prevented a better rating.

Bei all dem wirklich furchtbaren Pathos, dem schnulzigsten Geschnulze überhaupt und dem teilweise grenzwertigen Schauspiel der drei Hauptdarsteller/innen, so stellte sich mir beim jetzigen Anschauen von "Pearl Harbor" immer wieder die eine Frage: wieso sieht ein nun fast 24 Jahre alter Film, so viel besser aus, als 95% der heutigen Blockbuster?

Ab der Hälfte wird hier ein Actionfeuerwerk der obersten Güteklasse abgeliefert, welches man fairerweise bis "Maverick" so nicht mehr im Kino gesehen hat. Die Effekte sind so hervorragend in echte Sets und Explosionen eingearbeitet, dass sie das tun, wofür sie eigentlich gemacht sind: die Illusion zu verstärken und nicht alleine darauf zu vertrauen.

Sicher gibt's einige historische Ungenauigkeiten beim Ablauf des Angriffs. Mir gefällt aber zum einen, dass auch die japanische Seite ehrenhaft und zweifelnd dargestellt wird. Und zum anderen dass man als Zuschauer sehr gut in diese furchtbare Situation an diesem schicksalhaften Tag mitgenommen wird. Sei es durch tolle Kamerafahrten, oder durch Personen die wir kurzzeitig begleiten dürfen.

Ben Affleck und Josh Hartnett Mühen sich sehr, leider merkt man das aber auch in vielen Szenen. Kate Beckinsale toppt das in negativer Sicht aber nochmals deutlich und war für mich schon immer der größte Schwachpunkt des Films.

Die Dreiecks Romanze zwischen ihnen, hat überhaupt keine Chemie und hinterlässt einen zum Ende hin nur richtig sauer.

Dazu sind die letzten 20 Minuten des Films seltsam unrund und arg zusammen geschustert. Man hat beinah das Gefühl das Michael Bay der Plan fehlte, wie er dieses reale Action"Highlight" zu einem guten Ende führen könnte.

Die Nebendarsteller sind allerdings nicht nur hochkarätig besetzt, sondern überzeugen auch mit einer durchgehend guten Leistung, allen voran Alec Baldwin.

So bleibt von "Pearl Harbor" eine hahnebüchene Lovestory, die als Aufhänger für ein famoses Effektfeuerwerk dient, welches auch zwei Jahrzehnte später noch immer zum besten gehört was Hollywood jemals abgeliefert hat. Dafür lohnt sich das Anschauen unbedingt.

With all the truly terrible pathos, the cheesiest whining ever and the sometimes borderline acting of the three main actors, I kept asking myself one question when watching "Pearl Harbor": why does a film that is now almost 24 years old look so much better than 95% of the current blockbusters?

From the halfway point onwards, there is a top-class action firework display that, to be fair, hasn't been seen in the cinema until "Maverick". The effects are so excellently integrated into real sets and explosions that they do what they are actually designed for: to reinforce the illusion and not to rely on it alone.

There are certainly some historical inaccuracies in the course of the attack. But I like the fact that the Japanese side is also portrayed as honorable and doubtful. And the fact that, as a viewer, you are very well taken into this terrible situation on this fateful day. Be it through great camera movements or through people who we are allowed to accompany for a short time.

Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett try very hard, but unfortunately you notice it in many scenes. Kate Beckinsale tops that in a negative way and was always the biggest weak point of the film for me. The love triangle between them has no chemistry at all and just makes you really angry towards the end.

The last 20 minutes of the film are strangely uneven and badly cobbled together. You almost get the feeling that Michael Bay had no plan as to how he could bring this real action "highlight" to a good ending.

The ing actors are not only top-class, but also convince with consistently good performances, especially Alec Baldwin.

So "Pearl Harbor" remains a ridiculous love story that serves as the hook for a fabulous fireworks display of effects that, even two decades later, is still one of the best that Hollywood has ever produced. Because of that, it's definitely worth watching.

Endlich mal wieder ein geradliniger, schnörkeloser und auch sich selbst nicht allzu ernst nehmender Actionfilm im Stile der 80/90er Jahre.
Taron Egerton ist die perfekte Besetzung für den Alltags-Typen an der Security Kontrolle. Er wirkt dazu immer sehr motiviert und überzeugt auch mit seiner Physis.
Dazu mimt Jason Bateman mit seiner Sunnyboy Ausstrahlung einen herrlich erfrischenden Bösewicht.
So treffen hier endlich mal nicht, die ständig und üblicherweise vorgehaltenen Personen Schablonen aufeinander.
Der Rest des Casts ist solide, einzig Sofia Carson fällt etwas ab. Das Drehbuch gibt ihr aber auch keine allzu dankbare Rolle.

In Sachen Pacing hat "Carry on" ein paar Mankos. Die ersten 15min ziehen sich doch sehr und die Hauptfigur wird da zu ungelenk eingeführt, indem uns seine Freundin einfach mal alles über ihn erzählt, was man so wissen muss.
Dazu sind manche Dialoge etwas zu lang geraten.

Generell schafft der Film es aber immer wieder die Spannungsschraube so toll anzuziehen, dass man wie gebannt auf den Bildschirm starrt. Man wird als Zuschauer immer wieder in tolle Szenerien und Actionsequenzen geworfen, die größtenteils real und logisch wirken und einen damit noch mehr in die Handlung ziehen.

Die wenigen Effekte sind ganz okay gelungen.

Dazu ist die musikalische Einleitung der ersten Szene durch "Santa Claus is comin to town" von Springsteen mein persönliches Highlight😄

Sehr guter Genre-Vertreter, der frischen Wind in die Action-Landschaft bringt.

Finally, a straightforward, straightforward and not too serious action film in the style of the 80s/90s.

Taron Egerton is the perfect choice for the everyday guy at the security checkpoint. He always seems very motivated and is also convincing with his physique.

Jason Bateman, with his sunny-boy charisma, plays a wonderfully refreshing villain.

So, for once, the constant and usual stereotypes don't come together here.

The rest of the cast is solid, only Sofia Carson falls a little short. But the script doesn't give her a particularly rewarding role either.

When it comes to pacing, "Carry On" has a few shortcomings. The first 15 minutes drag on and the main character is introduced too awkwardly, with his girlfriend simply telling us everything we need to know about him.

Some of the dialogues are also a bit too long.

In general, the film always manages to turn up the tension so well that you stare at the screen as if spellbound. As a viewer, you are repeatedly thrown into great scenery and action sequences that mostly seem real and logical and thus draw you even more into the plot.

The few effects are quite well done.

The musical introduction to the first scene with "Santa Claus is comin to town" by Springsteen is also my personal highlight😄

A very good representative of the genre that brings a breath of fresh air to the action landscape.

Herzlich willkommen zur Review von "God of War" auf der Playstation. Genau so, wie das populäre Videospiel fühlte sich für mich die erste Hälfte von "The Northman" an. Es gilt zunächst eine große Quest-Liste abzuarbeiten:
Verstecke dich vor den bösen Männern, erobere das Dorf, verrichte Sklavenarbeit, finde das mystische Schwert, starte deine Rache und und und.
Dazu kommen viele schwere Zwischensequenzen die dem Spieler,... Verzeihung Zuschauer, die Handlung näher bringen sollen, aber doch eigentlich nur geskipt werden wollen.
Und alles wirkt zu gewollt, geskriptet und ohne echten Fluss.

Viele langatmige und schwere Dialoge, alles bierernst vorgetragen, ohne den leisesten Hauch von Humor. Das mag zwar dem Setting angemessen sein, mich hat das aber irgendwann zu sehr erdrückt.
Dazu kommt eine zu banale Story, die fast schon vom König der Löwen geklaut sein könnte.

Auf der positiven Seite sind alle Darsteller-Leistungen zu benennen, eigentlich wie immer aber Anja Taylor Joy an vorderster Stelle. Jede Szene mit ihr ist gleich um das gewisse Etwas besser als der Rest des Films.

Dazu ist die Musik gigantisch gut gelungen. Die nordischen Klänge verbreiten die perfekte Stimmung und wirken gleichzeitig herrlich unverbraucht.

Außerdem liefert die Kamera immer wider sehr schöne Bilder und die Settings wirken so echt, dass man den Dreck und die Kälte förmlich spüren kann.

So funktionieren bei "The Northman" leider nur die Basics. Emotionen oder gar ein magischer Funke, wollen hier aber gar nicht überspringen.

Welcome to the review of "God of War" on the Playstation. The first half of "The Northman" felt exactly like the popular video game to me. First, there is a long list of quests to complete:
Hide from the evil men, conquer the village, do slave labor, find the mystical sword, start your revenge and so on.
There are also many difficult cutscenes that are supposed to give the player, sorry, the viewer, a better understanding of the plot, but are actually just meant to be skipped.
And everything seems too forced, scripted and without any real flow.

A lot of long-winded and difficult dialogue, all delivered in a deadly serious manner, without the slightest hint of humor. That may be appropriate for the setting, but at some point it overwhelmed me.
There is also a story that is too banal, which could almost have been stolen from The Lion King.

On the positive side, all of the actors' performances deserve mention, but actually, as always, Anja Taylor Joy is at the forefront. Every scene with her is just that little bit better than the rest of the film.

The music is also incredibly well done. The Nordic sounds create the perfect atmosphere and at the same time seem wonderfully fresh.

The camera also delivers beautiful images time and time again and the settings seem so real that you can practically feel the dirt and the cold.

Unfortunately, only the basics work in "The Northman". Emotions or even a magical spark just don't seem to jump over here.

Wow, wer ist denn bitte Betty Gilpin?? Nach diesem Film werde ich mir diesen mir bis dato unbekannten Namen sicher merken, denn das ist eine ganz große Bad Ass Show die sie hier abliefert und dabei auch noch ordentlich Sex Appeal in diese ganze Schlachtplatte bringt.

Aber nicht nur wegen ihr hat mich "The Hunt" tatsächlich sehr positiv überrascht. Die üblichen Kamerawinkel, das immer gleiche abspielen von bestimmten Musikmomenten und die ewig selben Charakterzeichnungen, werden einem in den ersten 20 Minuten so herrlich schön ins Gesicht gerieben, nur um dann gleich mehrfach alles auf den Kopf zu stellen. Einfach nur super. Mir würde kein anderer Film einfallen, dem dieses Kunststück so schön gelungen ist.

Der echt hohe Gewaltgrad und die drastischen Splattereffekte sind immer schön an der Grenze zur Komik. Genauso wie die ganzen Dialoge und Abläufe im Film. Selbst der wirklich gut gefilmte Endkampf zwischen Hillary Swank (die endlich mal wieder auf der Leinwand zu sehen ist) und eben Betty Gilpin, ist voller Power, schwarzem Humor, Komik und dazu noch einer fetten Prise Gesellschaftskritik. Respekt vor dieser ungewöhnlichen, aber trotzdem gut gelungenen Mischung.

Mit dem Beginn des zweiten Drittel hatte ich meine Probleme, da "The Hunt" hier aus meiner Sicht einen etwas zu weiten Bogen spannt und dadurch ca 20min unnötig konfus werden. Leider braucht es dann wieder einige Zeit, bis der Film in Fahrt kommt.
Die eigentlich banale Story, die auf den zweiten Blick aber deutlich mehr zu bieten hat als es zunächst scheint, ist dagegen generell super gelungen und fesselt tatsächlich.

Die Sets sind gut. Die Kamera schwankt zwischen originell und dann wieder etwas zu einfach. Bei der Musik bleibt nichts hängen, egal ob positiv oder negativ.

Die Nebendarsteller, ob prominent oder nicht, spielen gemäß Drehbuch immer einen Tick zu drüber, und geben dem Film damit eine tolle, anarchische Note.

Wow, who on earth is Betty Gilpin?? After this film I will definitely this previously unknown name, because she puts on a really bad ass show and also brings a lot of sex appeal to this whole slaughter.

But it wasn't just her that made "The Hunt" really pleasantly surprising to me. The usual camera angles, the constant playing of certain musical moments and the same old character portrayals are rubbed in your face so beautifully in the first 20 minutes, only to then turn everything on its head several times. Simply brilliant. I can't think of any other film that has managed this feat so well.

The really high level of violence and the drastic splatter effects are always bordering on comedy. Just like all the dialogue and sequences in the film. Even the really well-filmed final fight between Hillary Swank (who is finally back on screen) and Betty Gilpin is full of power, black humor, comedy and a big pinch of social criticism. Respect for this unusual but nevertheless well-executed mix.

I had problems with the start of the second third, as "The Hunt" goes a bit too far away from the tracks here in my opinion, making about 20 minutes unnecessarily confusing. Unfortunately, it takes some time for the film to get going again.

The actually banal story, which at second glance has a lot more to offer than it initially seems, is generally very well done and really captivating.

The sets are good. The camera fluctuates between being original and then a bit too simple. Nothing sticks in the music, whether positive or negative.

The ing actors, whether prominent or not, always act a bit over the top according to the script, giving the film a great, anarchic touch.

Anders als die gängige Meinung vieler Mitmenschen und der Fachwelt, halte ich den ersten "Gladiator" zwar für einen richtig guten Film, jedoch kam bei mir nie der Begriff Meisterwerk in Zusammenhang damit auf. Somit war die Fallhöhe für mich für die Fortsetzung nicht ganz so hoch.

Ich muss sogar sagen, dass die Fallhöhe für mich fast gar nicht vorhanden ist, denn auch der zweite Teil ist nun ein sehr guter Film.

Ridley Scott schafft es einen etwas weiteren Rahmen der Handlung zu strecken, da viele politische Ränke Spiele erzählt werden und neben dem Aufstieg des Gladiators Lucius auch packend der intrigante Aufstieg von Denzel Washingtons Figur Macrinus dargestellt wird.

Überhaupt ist Denzel Washington eine echtes Highlight des Films. Mit sichtbarer Freude genießt er es, den Ekelpolitiker erster Güte zu mimen.
Dagegen ist Paul Mescal für mich der größte Schwachpunkt des Films. Nie erreicht er auch nur annähernd die Aura eines Russel Crowe oder generell die eines Anführers. Das schwächt den gesamten Film.
Ab der Mitte der Laufzeit wird das besser, trotzdem bleibt es negativ hängen.

Alle anderen Figuren überzeugen. Pedro Pascal liefert wie immer ab, Connie Nielsen gefiel mir ebenfalls sehr gut. Auch kleinere Nebenrollen wirken realistisch und machen den Film besser.
Besonders hervorzuheben sind außerdem die beiden Antagonisten, die total abdrehen, dadurch aber eine unkontrollierbare Stimmung erzeugen.

Die Effekte sind leider nie wirklich perfekt, sondern eher in der Kategorie ok einzuordnen. An einigen Stellen sehen Sie aber wirklich grottig aus. Stichpunkt: Haie! Ganz ganz furchtbar!

Dagegen packt einen die Musik, auch wenn viele Stücke aus dem ersten Teil wieder verwertet werden. Trotzdem ist es immer end und zieht einen in den Film.

Generell fehlt dem Film etwas das Epische und die Handlung aus dem ersten Teil wird zunehmend immer mehr zum Anker der Fortsetzung. Für mich hat das aber alles super funktioniert, weshalb ich "Gladiator 2" trotz großer Skepsis, sehr genossen habe.

Contrary to the common opinion of many people and experts, I think the first "Gladiator" is a really good film, but I never used the term masterpiece in connection with it. So the height of Fall was not quite as big for me.

I even have to say that the height of fall is almost non-existent for me, because the second part is also a very good film.

Ridley Scott manages to stretch the plot a little further, as many political intrigues and games are told and, in addition to the rise of the gladiator Lucius, the scheming rise of Denzel Washington's character Macrinus is also grippingly portrayed.

In general, Denzel Washington is a real highlight of the film. He clearly enjoys playing the disgusting politician of the first order.

In contrast, Paul Mescal is the film's biggest weak point for me. He never comes anywhere close to the aura of a Russel Crowe or that of a leader in general. That weakens the entire film.
Things get better from the middle of the running time, but it still remains a negative.

All the other characters are convincing. Pedro Pascal delivers as always, and I also liked Connie Nielsen very much. Even smaller ing roles seem realistic and make the film better.
Also particularly noteworthy are the two antagonists, who go completely crazy, but thereby create an uncontrollable atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the effects are never really perfect, but rather in the OK category. In some places, however, they look really terrible. Key point: sharks! Absolutely terrible!

On the other hand, the music grabs you, even if many pieces from the first part are reused. Nevertheless, it is always appropriate and draws you into the film.

In general, the film lacks a bit of epicness and the plot from the first part increasingly becomes the anchor of the sequel. For me, however, it all worked really well, which is why I enjoyed "Gladiator 2" a lot, despite my big skepticism.

Ok ich geb es zu: Sydney Sweeney war die Hauptmotivation um "The Voyeurs" anzuschauen.
Und ja natürlich macht es wahnsinnig Freude sie anzusehen und die sexy Szenen mit ihr sind auch ganz gut gelungen.

Leider ist wirklich vieles weitere an dem Film aber gar nicht gut gelungen.
Es fängt bei den teilweise furchtbaren Dialogen an, geht bei der billigen Hintergrundmusik weiter und findet den negativen Höhepunkt am Schauspiel des sexbessessenen Nachbarn, in Form von Ben Hardy. Für so eine zentrale Rolle strahlt er null Anziehungskraft, interessantes oder gar liebenswürdiges aus.

Wenn dann das Drehbuch einfach mal alle Handlungsstränge so hinbiegt wie es grade notwendig ist, verpufft auch noch das letzte Interesse, den Figuren weiter durch den Plot zu folgen.
Besonders ab dem letzten Drittel ist der Film überhaupt nicht mehr nachvollziehbar und Sidney Sweeneys Handlungen ergeben teilweise gar keinen Sinn mehr. Was dann als großer Twist verkauft wird, verkommt zu einem müden "Ähm.... ok".

Dem gegenüber stehen zwar wenige, aber dafür tolle Sets, eine ganz gute Kamera und das interessante erste Drittel.
Und ja: Sydney Sweeney😄

OK, I it it: Sydney Sweeney was the main motivation for watching "The Voyeurs".
And yes, of course, she is a lot of fun to watch and the sexy scenes with her are also quite good.

Unfortunately, a lot else in the film is not very good.

It starts with the sometimes terrible dialogue, continues with the cheap background music and reaches its negative climax in the acting of the sex-obsessed neighbor, in the form of Ben Hardy. For such a central role, he exudes zero attraction, interest or even lovability.

When the script then simply bends all the plot lines to suit what is necessary, the last interest in following the characters through the plot fizzles out.

Especially from the last third onwards, the film is no longer comprehensible at all and Sidney Sweeney's actions sometimes make no sense at all. What is then sold as a big twist degenerates into a tired "Um... OK".

On the other hand, there are few, but great sets, a pretty good camera and the interesting first third. And yes: Sydney Sweeney😄

Diesem Asterix Abenteuer ist das Fehlen einer Comic-Vorlage deutlich anzumerken, da die Handlung nie so richtig in Schwung kommen mag und tolle Möglichkeiten zwar aufmacht, die dann aber nie wirklich ausnutzt.

Dazu kommen einige sehr einfach gezeichnete Stellen, die bei mir tatsächlich böse Gedanken von faule Produzenten aufkommen ließen.

Alles wirkt nicht so rund wie im Vorgänger und auch sehr bemüht. Sicher liegt es auch daran, dass Asterix und Obelix deutlich weniger Screentime haben, als gewöhnlich.

Dennoch gibt es immer wieder Szenen die Freude machen und auch einen gewissen Charme versprühen.

"Das Geheimnis des Zaubertranks" ist insgesamt aber leider deutlich schlechter als der Vorgänger und für mich auch einer der schlechtesten Teile der Reihe.

The lack of a comic book template is clearly noticeable in this Asterix adventure, as the plot never really gets going and opens up great possibilities but never really exploits them.

There are also some very simply drawn parts that actually made me think badly of lazy producers.

Everything doesn't seem as well-rounded as in the previous film and also seems very forced. This is certainly also due to the fact that Asterix and Obelix have significantly less screen time than usual.

Nevertheless, there are always scenes that are enjoyable and also exude a certain charm.

But "The Secret of the Magic Potion" is unfortunately much worse than its predecessor and, in my opinion, one of the worst parts of the series.

Ein ganz starker Asterix-Film, mit endlich wieder gelungenen Gags für Jung und Alt.
Highlight sind die ständig auf ihren rechten pochenden Römer und Sklaven, die damit nicht nur ihren Zenturio zur Weißglut bringen. Der Alltag jedes Vorgesetzten😄

Die gesamte Story, welche dem Comic "Die Trabantenstadt" entnommen wurde, ist sehr gut umgesetzt und gelungen. Auch der Animationsstil ist zwar zunächst ungewohnt, t aber zu Asterix.

Alle Dorfbewohner die man seit seiner eigenen Kindheit lieb gewonnen hat sind vertreten und tragen ihren Teil zum Gesamtergebnis bei. Natürlich darf kein Streit über einen frischen Fisch, die Jagd auf die armen Wildschweine oder Obelix' Fragen nach Zaubertrank fehlen. Das könnte Gefahr laufen ermüdend zu wirken, tut es im Film aber überhaupt nicht, sondern es wirkt immer noch frisch und lustig.

Mir gefiel besonders, dass hier schon auch bewusst etwas Schärfe in die Gags und die gesamte Darstellung geflossen ist, so dass nicht alles zu glatt poliert wirkt.

Seit langem der beste Asterix!

A really good Asterix film, with finally some good gags for young and old.
The highlight is the Romans and slaves who are constantly pounding on their right hand, driving not only their centurion mad. The everyday life of every superior😄

The entire story, which was taken from the comic "The Satellite Town", is very well implemented and successful. The animation style may be unusual at first, but it suits Asterix.

All the villagers that you have grown fond of since your own childhood are represented and contribute their part to the overall result. Of course, no argument about a fresh fish, the hunt for the poor wild boars or Obelix's questions about magic potion should be missing. This could run the risk of being tiring, but in the film it doesn't at all, it still seems fresh and funny.

I particularly liked the fact that a little bit of sharpness was deliberately put into the gags and the overall presentation, so that everything doesn't seem too polished.

The best Asterix in a long time!

Obwohl ich die Adam McKay-Filme eigentlich ganz gerne mag, hat "Ron Burgundy" bei mir nicht richtig gezündet. Es waren ein paar Gags dabei die sicher ganz lustig waren, aber der ganz große Lacher hat gefehlt.

Vor zwanzig Jahren war der Film aber sicher wegweisend was das Thema Feminismus betrifft, dazu immer wieder nette und clevere politische Backpfeifen an die damalige Regierung und natürlich ist der Film selbst heute noch Quelle für dutzende Memes ("That escalated quickly").

Die Kamera hat mir gut gefallen, dazu ein toller Soundtrack der die abgedrehte, etwas eigene Welt des Hauptcharakters gut unterstreicht.

Will Ferrell darf hier völlig frei drehen und tut das auch ein ums andere Mal. Er schafft es aber doch auch an den wenigen entscheidenden Stellen den ernsten Ton zu treffen.

Christina Applegate spielt ihre etwas eindimensionale Rolle gut, und der ganze restliche Cast aus dem obersten Regal Hollywoods ist einfach nur Spitzenklasse. Mein persönliches Highlight ist Steve Carell als debiler, aber liebenswürdiger Wettermann.

Und trotzdem ist alles etwas zu sehr over the top gewesen und da ständig nur die nächste abgedrehte Szene kommt, war es mir irgendwann zu viel. Trotz der überschaubaren Laufzeit war er für mich auch einen Tick zu lange.

Although I actually like the Adam McKay films, "Ron Burgundy" didn't really work for me. There were a few gags that were certainly funny, but the really big laugh was missing.

Twenty years ago, however, the film was certainly a big thing when it came to the topic of feminism, as well as nice and clever political digs at the government of the time, and of course the film is still the source of dozens of memes today ("That escalated quickly").

I liked the camera, and there was also a great soundtrack that underscores the main character's wacky, somewhat unique world.

Will Ferrell is allowed to play completely freely here and does so time and time again. But he still manages to hit the serious tone at the top less crucial points.

Christina Applegate plays her somewhat one-dimensional role well, and the rest of the cast from Hollywood's top shelf is simply top class. My personal highlight is Steve Carell as the moronic but lovable weatherman.

And yet, everything was a bit too over the top and since there was always just the next crazy scene, it was eventually too much for me. Despite the manageable running time, it was also a bit too long for me.

Der Protagonist aus "Sisu" ist der Finnische Captain America!! Und ich glaube er hat nicht Gold gefunden sondern Vibranium, weil nur das kann die Erklärung dafür sein, dass ein 30cm großes Goldgräbersieb aus Blech, die Maschinengewehrsalven von ungefähr 10 Nazis aushält.

Genau solche Szenen gibt's in "Sisu" zuhauf und machen es nicht einfach im Film zu bleiben.

Die comicartigen und total überdrehten Gewaltakte, Schüsse, Explosionen, Schläge, Erstickungstode die hier auf die Hauptfigur einprasseln, lassen einen ernsten Film nicht zu. Das konterkariert aber die gesamte Grundstimmung des Films. Für einen lustigen Splasher ist er zu ernst und umgekehrt.

Dazu kommt dass der Film maximal aufgebläht mit Zeitlupensequenzen und Landschaftsaufnahmen ist. Der gesamte Style des Films ist wirklich super und grade die Bilder vom kargen Finnland sind zum Großteil richtig schön eingefangen, aber wenn Aatami zum xten Mal schweren Schrittes einen Hügel hinauf läuft, ermüdet das sehr.

Die Splattereffekte sind sehr gut gelungen und die Kamera generell ebenso.
Größter Pluspunkt war für mich die Aura des Hauptdarsteller, der die wortkarge Figur sehr gut dem Zuschauer nahe bringen kann.

Dennoch ist "Sisu" weit unter meinen Erwartungen und entspricht nicht den teilweise überragenden Vorschusslorbeeren.

The protagonist of "Sisu" is the Finnish Captain America!! And I think he didn't find gold but Vibranium, because that's the only explanation for how a 30cm gold mining sieve made of sheet metal can withstand the machine gun fire of about 10 Nazis.

There are plenty of scenes like this in "Sisu" and it's not easy to stay in the film.

The comic-like and totally over-the-top acts of violence, shots, explosions, blows, deaths by suffocation that rain down on the main character here don't allow for a serious film. But that counteracts the overall mood of the film. It's too serious for a funny splasher and vice versa.

In addition, the film is extremely bloated with slow motion sequences and landscape shots. The overall style of the film is really great and the images of barren Finland in particular are mostly captured really beautifully, but when Aatami walks heavily up a hill for the umpteenth time, it's very tiring.

The splatter effects are very well done and the camera in general is as well.
The biggest plus point for me was the aura of the main actor, who is able to bring the taciturn character very close to the audience.

Nevertheless, "Sisu" is far below my expectations and does not live up to the sometimes overwhelming advance praise.

Der beste und wohl endste Satz über John Williams wird in dieser fantastischen Doku von J. J. Abrams gesagt. Frei wieder gegeben:

Manche Komponisten haben ein oder zwei großartige Kompositionen geschrieben, wofür man sie ihr Leben lang in Erinnerung behalten wird. John Williams hat Dutzende und Aberdutzende davon geschrieben und alle werden über sein Leben hinaus in unseren Herzen sein.

Und tatsächlich ist es mit Worten nicht zu erklären wieviele unvergessliche Themen, Melodien und Lieder von diesem von Gott mit einem unfassbaren Talent gesegneten Mann geschrieben wurden:

Über den Mann John Williams wusste ich aber ehrlich gesagt sehr wenig und die Doku schafft es zumindest einen groben Überblick über ein wahrlich bewegtes Leben voller harter Arbeit, Schicksalsschlägen und Freundschaft mit seinem congenialen Partner Steven Spielberg zu zeigen.

Der Respekt vor einem der größten Künstler unserer Zeit ist dadurch nur noch mehr gewachsen.

Und auch die Machart der Doku überzeugt. Dazu erzählen sowohl die erwartbaren Interviewpartner wie Steven Spielberg oder Chris Columbus ihre Momente mit John Williams, aber auch Leute wie Chris Martin, Anne-Sophie Mutter oder Seth Macfarlane, was das Spektrum seiner Musik nur nochmal unterstreicht.

To be honest, I knew very little about the man John Williams and the documentary manages to give at least a rough overview of a truly eventful life full of hard work, strokes of fate and friendship with his congenial partner Steven Spielberg.

My respect for one of the greatest artists of our time has only grown as a result.

And the way the documentary is made is also convincing. The expected interviewees such as Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus talk about their moments with John Williams, as do people like Chris Martin, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Seth Macfarlane, which only underlines the spectrum of his music.

Was für ein Ritt! Ich weiß nicht, wann ich das letzte Mal buchstäblich erschlagen war, von der Vielfalt an Sets, Personen, Schnitts und Cuts, Fights und Action. Alles perfekt vorbereitet, gespielt und auch gezeigt. Hier krachts und scheppert es noch richtig von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde. Und zwar so kreativ dass es eine wahre Freude ist, den Kollegen auf der Leinwand beim Knochen brechen, Kiefer aufreissen, Beine splittern, Köpfe einschlagen usw zuzuschauen.

Alles sieht einfach nur super aus, sowohl die Maskeneffekte, als auch die Kampfchoreos, die einfach nur zum Zunge schnalzen sind. Trotz der wahnsinnigen Geschwindigkeit, erkennt man die Kämpfe und man versteht was da grade vor einem iert.
Dabei ein Wort noch zur Kamera: es lohnt sich echt ein behind the scenes zu schauen. Nicht nur die Kämpfe sind kreativ, auch die Kamera Leute haben sich ganz viel einfallen lassen, um die Fights so fantastisch zu zeigen, wie es dann schlussendlich gelungen ist.

Selten habe ich einen so toll choreografierten und vor allem auch dramatisch gescripteten Endkampf gesehen, wie in "The Raid 2" in der Küche. Obwohl man zu dem Zeitpunkt bereits über zwei Stunden Männern und Frauen beim prügeln zugeschaut hat, genießt man jede Sekunde dieses Fights und die vielen schnellen Wendungen lassen einen vor Spannung fast platzen.

Herausragende schauspielerische Leistungen runden dieses Erlebnis ab. Sowohl die reine Physis, als auch die Story, wird von allen Darstellern perfekt übermittelt.

Die Story selbst war für mich nicht mehr als ein Konstrukt für die ganze Action, insgesamt aber ok.

Dazu wirkt es spätestens ab der Hälfte leider unfreiwillig komisch, dass
- immer nur maximal 2 Personen gleichzeitig angreifen
- alle Bodyguards keine Schusswaffen dabei haben
- Rama auch nach dem 172 Treffer, Schnitt, Knochenbruch normal weiter gehen und vor allem artistisch kämpfen kann

Das hat mich zumindest immer etwas aus dem Erlebnis gezogen.

What a ride! I don't know when I was last literally overwhelmed by the variety of sets, people, cuts and sections, fights and action. Everything was perfectly prepared, acted and shown. There's a real bang and crash from the first to the last second. And it's so creative that it's a real joy to watch the colleagues on screen breaking bones, tearing open jaws, splintering legs, smashing heads, etc.

Everything just looks great, both the mask effects and the fight choreography, which is just mouth-watering. Despite the insane speed, you recognize the fights and you understand what's happening in front of you.

And a word about the camera: it's really worth taking a look behind the scenes. It's not just the fights that are creative, the camera people also came up with a lot of ideas to show the fights as fantastically as they ultimately did.

I have rarely seen such a well-choreographed and, above all, dramatically scripted final fight as in the kitchen in "The Raid 2". Even though you have already watched men and women fight for over two hours by that point, you enjoy every second of this fight and the many quick twists and turns almost make you burst with excitement.

Outstanding acting performances round off this experience. Both the pure physicality and the story are perfectly conveyed by all the actors.

For me, the story itself was nothing more than a construct for all the action, but overall it was OK.

In addition, at least halfway through, it unfortunately seems unintentionally funny that
- always only a maximum of 2 people attack at a time
- none of the bodyguards have firearms with them
- Rama can carry on normally and, above all, fight artistically even after the 172nd hit, cut, and broken bone

That always took something out of the experience for me.

23. Juli 2023, München. Ich bin mit meiner Frau, all meinen drei Geschwistern, und meinen Neffen und Nichten auf meinem fast 20. Bruce Springsteen Konzert. Die Sonne scheint, wir trinken gemütlich Bier, schlendern durch München in den von Springsteen-Fans gefüllten Olympiapark und landen in einem Meer aus guter Laune, S, Liebe, Gemeinschaft und Vorfreude. Nach jahrelangem Warten tritt ER gleich mit der besten Band der Welt auf die Bühne und wir dürfen es erleben: purer Rock n' Roll!

Der Weg der Sonne geht ganz langsam nach unten, wir sitzen leider nur auf Sitzplätzen und platzen vor Spannung.

Als es dunkel wird, die Band langsam auf ihre Plätze geht, der Applaus ohren betäubend laut wird, Bruce endlich als letzter auf die Bühne kommt, laufen mir so stark die Tränen über mein Gesicht dass ich das erste Lied komplett vere. Ich erahne durch die Tränen dass es den anderen ähnlich geht. Und dann geht es los: Eine phänomenale Rockshow, voller wilder, siger, abartig krasser Momente, aber auch vielen ruhigen, persönlichen und auch traurigen und ernsten Teilen.

Als beim letzten Lied dann nur noch Bruce mit seiner Gitarre steht und sein letzter Satz ans Publikum lautet "I'll See you in my dreams" spricht er allen aus der Seele. Jeder hat sich hier einen Traum erfüllt und jeder lebt seinen Traum in diesem Moment.

Genau das was ich hier vermutlich etwas ungelenk versucht habe zu beschreiben, zeigt "Road Diary" perfekt. Sogar jenes Konzert in München ist immer wieder Teil der Doku und wenn die Kamera über unsere damaligen Plätze rast, bin ich sofort wieder in diesem Stadion in dieser Nacht.

Einzigartig! Ganz ganz tolle Doku die dem Boss und seiner ganzen Band gerecht wird.

July 23, 2023, Munich. I'm at my almost 20th Bruce Springsteen concert with my wife, all three of my siblings, and my nephews and nieces. The sun is shining, we're drinking some beer, strolling through Munich to the Olympic Park filled with Springsteen fans, and ending up in a sea of ​​good humor, fun, love, community, and anticipation. After years of waiting, HE is about to take the stage with the best band in the world and we get to experience it: pure rock n' roll!

The sun's path goes down very slowly, unfortunately we're only sitting in seats and bursting with excitement.

As it gets dark, the band slowly takes their seats, the applause becomes deafeningly loud, and Bruce finally comes on stage last, tears run down my face so hard that I miss the first song completely. Through the tears I sense that the others feel the same way. And then it starts: A phenomenal rock show, full of wild, fun, outrageously crazy moments, but also many quiet, personal and also sad and serious parts.

When during the last song only Bruce is left with his guitar and his last sentence to the audience is "I'll see you in my dreams", he speaks from everyone's heart. Everyone has fulfilled a dream here and everyone is living their dream in this moment.

Exactly what I have tried to describe here, albeit a little awkwardly, is perfectly shown by "Road Diary". Even that concert in Munich is part of the documentary again and again and when the camera races over our seats at the time, I am immediately back in that Stadium in that night.

Unique! A really great documentary that does justice to the Boss and his whole band.

Irgendwie tut es mir etwas weh, die Review für "Man lernt nie aus" zu schreiben. Selten einen Film gesehen, der mich in der ersten halben Stunde richtig schön mit auf die Geschichte genommen hat, die mir der Film wohl erzählen will, nur um mich dann aber ab der Hälfte komplett zu verlieren und mir dann eine ganz andere Geschichte erzählen will.

Wirklich schade, denn der Film besticht mit einem wahnsinnig guten und sympathischen Cast, der auch in dem gesetzten Setting voll aufgeht.
Robert DeNiro ist der S an der Rolle echt anzumerken, genauso wie Anne Hathaway das genaue Gegenstück zu ihrer Rolle in "Der Teufel trägt Prada" mit viel Freude spielt.

Immer wieder gibt's tolle Momente zwischen den Charakteren, die viel in den kleinen, zwischenmenlichen Ebenen stattfinden und den Film dadurch echt wirken lassen.

Der Start mit dem rüstigen und motivierten Pensionär, der noch etwas in der Welt erreichen will, verkommt ab der Hälfte leider mal zu einer Teenie Komödie, dann zur tragischen Lovestory, dann zum Gesellschaftsdrama und dann wieder zur netten Nachmittags Telenovela. Leider weiß der Film ab der besagten zweiten Hälfte dann nicht mehr wo er hin möchte und verliert seinen roten Faden.
Generell wurde mir außerdem auch etwas zu sehr auf der Feminismus-Schiene herum geritten, aber das nur am Rande.

Kamera, Musik und auch die generelle Machart sind gut und wirken wertig.

So kommt es, dass ich die Kerngeschichte echt gerne neu verfilmt sehen würde; am liebsten sogar mit dem gleichen Cast, der diesen Film deutlich besser macht, als er eigentlich ist.

Somehow it pains me a little to write the review for "The Intern". I have rarely seen a film that really took me along on the story that the film wanted to tell me in the first half hour, only to lose me completely halfway through and then tell me a completely different story.

It's a real shame, because the film impresses with an incredibly good and likeable cast that also fits in perfectly with the setting.

Robert DeNiro really enjoys the role, just as Anne Hathaway plays the exact opposite of her role in "The Devil Wears Prada" with great joy.

There are always great moments between the characters, which take place a lot on the small, interpersonal levels and make the film seem real.

The start with the sprightly and motivated pensioner who still wants to achieve something in the world unfortunately degenerates halfway through into a teen comedy, then a tragic love story, then a social drama and then back to a nice afternoon telenovela. Unfortunately, from the second half onwards, the film no longer knows where it wants to go and loses its thread.
In general, I also felt that the feminist theme was a bit too much, but that's just a side note.

The camera, music and the general style are good and seem high quality.

So I would really like to see the core story remade; ideally with the same cast, who make this film much better than it actually is.

Eine echte TV Legende findet in diesem Special ihren unspektakulären und auch etwas deprimierenden Abgesang.
So nett die erzählten Storys, Gags und Szenen sind, so kommen sie nie auch nur annähernd an die Highlights der Ellen-Show heran. Ellen DeGeneres hat es in ihrer Show über 19 (!) Jahre hinweg geschafft, legendäre Momente für die TV Ewigkeit zu erschaffen.

Ihr Special reicht niemals annähernd daran heran. Alles wirkt mit der dunklen Wolke der Toxik-Vorwürfe überzogen und echte Freude kommt dadurch leider nie auf. Bis auf zwei drei Gags fehlen auch die echten Lacher, alles andere reicht grade so für nette Schmunzler.

Ellen wirkt aber weiterhin höchst sympathisch und diese Sympathie trägt sie durch das ganze Programm. Man wünscht ihr geradezu die ganz großen Lacher

Sehr nervig sind die Applaus-Baits und das Publikum, welches jede kleinste Pause als Anlass für stehende Ovationen nimmt.

Ich hoffe für Ellen, dass es doch noch nicht ihr finaler Abschluss aus der Welt des Showbiz ist. Irgendwie geht da noch mehr.

A real TV legend finds her unspectacular and somewhat depressing farewell in this special.

As nice as the stories, gags and scenes are, they never come anywhere close to the highlights of the Ellen show. Ellen DeGeneres has managed to create legendary moments for TV eternity in her show for 19 (!) years.

Her special never comes anywhere close to that. Everything seems to be covered in the dark cloud of toxic accusations and unfortunately this never leads to real joy. Apart from two or three gags, there are no real laughs, everything else is just enough for a nice smile.

Ellen continues to seem very likeable and this likeability carries her through the whole program. You almost wish her the big laughs.

The applause bait and the audience, who take every little break as an opportunity for a standing ovation, are very annoying.

I hope for Ellen's sake that this is not her final exit from the world of showbiz. Somehow there is more to it.

Als Filmliebhaber, Movienerd und möchtegern Cineast, trifft einen dieser Film direkt ins Herz. Mit welcher Leidenschaft der kleine Steven... ähm Sam seine ersten kleinen Filme dreht, verursacht eine wohlig warme Gänsehaut am ganzen Körper und ein fettes Grinsen auf dem Gesicht.

Tatsächlich bin ich mir aber nicht sicher, ob der "normale" Zuschauer diese Szenen mit genau so viel Emotionalität erleben kann. Könnte mir vorstellen dass Schnittechniken und Kameratypen durchaus auch etwas langweilig erscheinen können.

Steven Spielberg inszeniert SEINEN Film aber so grandios gut, mit einem wahnsinnig guten Gespür für die kleinen Momente, Gesten und tollen Dialoge und natürlich mit ganz viel Herz.

Weiteres Highlight ist Gabriel LaBelle, der seine Rolle so echt und lebendig spielt, dass es eine wahre Freude ist ihm zuzuschauen.

Der restliche Cast mit Paul Dano, Michelle Williams und Seth Rogen sind ebenfalls grandios und machen die Geschichte lebendig.

Leider gibt's außer den o. g. tollen und magischen Momenten, aber besonders zum Ende des zweiten Drittels auch gaaaanz viel Leerlauf. Nahezu der gesamte Highschool-Part wirkt endlos und für mich auch irgendwie nicht richtig end. Für die Geschichte natürlich elementar, aber mit viel zu viel Zeit ausgestattet.

Wenn dann aber die Musik von John Williams, die tolle Kamera von Janusz Kaminski untermalt und die Spielbergsche Magie wie von selbst wirkt, fühlt man sich einfach beseelt und "The Fabelmans" macht etwas mit einem.

As a film lover, movie nerd and wannabe cinephile, this film hits you straight in the heart. The ion with which little Steven... er, Sam makes his first little films gives you warm goosebumps all over your body and a big grin on your face.

In fact, I'm not sure whether the "normal" viewer can experience these scenes with as much emotion. I could imagine that editing techniques and camera types can also seem a bit boring.

But Steven Spielberg directs HIS film so brilliantly, with an incredibly good feel for the small moments, gestures and great dialogues and, of course, with a lot of heart.

Another highlight is Gabriel LaBelle, who plays his role so genuinely and vividly that it is a real joy to watch him.

The rest of the cast with Paul Dano, Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen are also brilliant and bring the story to life.

Unfortunately, apart from the above mentioned great and magical moments, especially towards the end of the second third there is also a loooot of idle time. Almost the entire high school part seems endless and somehow not really fitting for me. Of course it is essential for the story, but it is given far too much time.

But when the music by John Williams, the great camera by Janusz Kaminski and the Spielbergian magic work themselves, you simply feel inspired and "The Fabelmans" does something to you.

Als riesiger Stephen King Fan hatte ich mir von der Doku einiges erhofft, allerdings bekam ich ein zufällig zusammen gewürfeltes Schnittwerk aus seinen Verfilmungen, gemischt mit nicht unbedingt dazu enden Interviewagen.
Die waren teilweise gut, manche gar inspirierend und dennoch fehlt der Doku jegliche Richtung, Emotionalität und Idee.

Da freue ich mich lieber auf das nächste Buch vom großen Meister.

As a huge Stephen King fan, I had high hopes for the documentary, but what I got was a randomly thrown-together selection of his film adaptations, mixed with interview ages that didn't necessarily fit.
Some of them were good, some were even inspiring, but the documentary still lacks any direction, emotion or idea.

I'd rather look forward to the next book from the great master.

Willkommen zu "Moneyball" oder aber eigentlich "Die große Brad Pitt Show".
"Moneyball" ist ein echt guter Film, aber nur sehr schwer vorstellbar ohne den wirklich grandiosen Brad Pitt, der hier in nahezu jeder Szene vorkommt und vor allem aber auch in jeder Szene auf den Punkt abliefert. Grandios und Oscar-würdig.

Dazu fasziniert der Film auch solche Leute die mit Baseball gar nichts am Hut haben. Der Spruch "Wie kann man sich der Magie von Baseball nur entziehen" t perfekt, da man durch den Film selbst von dieser altehrwürdigen US-Sportart fasziniert wird.

Super gefilmt, mit tollen Dialogen (Sorkin as its best!), einer tollen und - vor allem für alle Führungskräfte - höchst inspirierenden Handlung, und einem durchweg perfekten Cast. Ganz vorneweg Jonah Hill, der neben Brad Pitt ebenfalls total überzeugt.

Leider ist der Film aber auch ca 10min zu lang.
Basiswissen über den Sport wird dazu einfach vorausgesetzt. Wer nicht zumindest schonmal die Grundregeln irgendwo gehört hat, kann ihn vermutlich nicht voll genießen.

"Moneyball" wird mir aber sicher in sehr positiver Erinnerung bleiben, allen voran wegen der tollen Story mit wahrem Background und einem echt einmalig guten Brad Pitt.

Welcome to "Moneyball" or actually "The Great Brad Pitt Show".

"Moneyball" is a really good film, but it's hard to imagine it without the truly brilliant Brad Pitt, who appears in almost every scene and, above all, delivers on point in every scene. Brilliant and Oscar-worthy.

The film also fascinates people who have nothing to do with baseball. The saying "How can you escape the magic of baseball" fits perfectly, as the film itself fascinates you with this time-honored US sport.

Superbly filmed, with great dialogue (Sorkin at his best!), a great and - especially for all managers - highly inspiring plot, and a consistently perfect cast. First and foremost Jonah Hill, who is also totally convincing alongside Brad Pitt.

Unfortunately, the film is also about 10 minutes too long.
Basic knowledge of the sport is simply assumed. If you haven't at least heard the basic rules somewhere, you probably won't be able to fully enjoy it.

But I will certainly have very positive memories of "Moneyball", especially because of the great story with a true background and a truly unique Brad Pitt.

Schade dass mit "Frozen Empire" nicht die gleiche Qualität wie vom Vorgänger "Afterlife" erreicht wird, denn die Grundzutaten sind alle da.

Die Story und vor allem der langsame Aufbau dazu, ist sehr gut gelungen. Kleine Details und Abzweigungen im Plot geben allem einen soliden Unterbau, so dass man als Zuschauer bis zur Mitte des Films schön auf die neue Reise unserer Geisterjager mitgenommen wird.

Alle Charaktere spielen gut und sind sympathisch. Trotz der erneuten Fortsetzung ist dadurch eine gewisse Hingabe für das Projekt zu spüren.
Und obwohl es eine sehr hohe Anzahl an Charakteren gibt (tendenziell sogar zu viel), schafft es das Drehbuch grade noch so, alle Geschichten zur jeweilig notwendigen Detaillierung zu erzählen. Das gleicht aber manchmal einem Ritt auf dem Photonenstrahl.

Die Effekte, als durchaus wichtiger Part des Films, schwanken zwischen naja und ganz gut. Ist das bei schnellen Kamerafahrten oder kleinen Details noch zu verschmerzen, sieht leider grade der Oberbösewicht echt nicht gut aus. Mich hat das regelrecht aus dem Film gerissen.

Gefallen hat mir die Art und Weise der fast schon obligatorischen Legacy Auftritte. Bis auf Vankman werden nahezu keine Momente besonders inszeniert, sondern die jeweiligen Personen sind halt da. Es könnte jeder andere Schauspieler sein. Wenn man die Zuordnung zu den Ersten Teilen aber kennt, macht es das umso schöner.

Bill Murray, für ganz viele sicher DER Ghostbuster, hat leider zu wenig Screentime und seine wenigen Sätze sind nicht mehr als billige Oneliner.

Der größte Schwachpunkt des Films ist aber seine zu lange Laufzeit und vor dem letzten Drittel verheddert er sich in einigen unnötigen Nebenplots. Dazu sind einige Entscheidungen der Charaktere nur schwer nachzuvollziehen.

Der Score bedient sich fast ausschließlich am Original. Das ist zwar gut, aber halt trotzdem faul geklaut.

Und dennoch ein siger Ausflug zurück ins New York der Geister.

It's a shame that "Frozen Empire" doesn't have the same quality as its predecessor "Afterlife", because the basic ingredients are all there.

The story and especially the slow build-up to it are very well done. Small details and detours in the plot give everything a solid foundation, so that the viewer is taken along on the new journey of our ghostbusters until halfway through the film.

All the characters act well and are likeable. Despite the new sequel, a certain dedication to the project can be felt.
And although there are a very large number of characters (even too many), the script just about manages to tell all the stories with the necessary detail. But sometimes it's like riding on a photon beam.

The effects, as a very important part of the film, fluctuate between okay and quite good. While this can be forgiven in fast camera movements or small details, unfortunately the main villain in particular doesn't look good. It really took me out of the movie.

I liked the way the almost obligatory Legacy appearances were made. Apart from Vankman, almost no moments are particularly staged, the respective characters are just there. It could be any other actor. But if you know the connection to the first parts, it makes it all the more beautiful.

Bill Murray, for many people THE Ghostbuster, unfortunately has too little screen time and his few sentences are nothing more than cheap one-liners.

The biggest weakness of the film is that it is too long and before the last third it gets tangled up in some unnecessary subplots. In addition, some of the characters' decisions are difficult to understand.

The score is almost exclusively based on the original. It's good, but it's still a lazy steal.

Anyway still a fun trip back to the New York of ghosts.
