i won’t pretend to speak for Every Trans Person, but i do believe a lot of us share the same regret of “not starting sooner,” especially when most of us “knew the truth” years before we finally found the courage to say it aloud. i beat myself up about that for so long until finally being forced to give my younger self grace and accept both the good and the bad of the life i lived before i started transitioning, recognizing that everything happened the way it was supposed to, even if i once wished for different. and besides, the most important thing was that i did it at all.
that’s one of the main reasons i’m so thankful this…
I think it woulda been better if they stopped at every Rainforest Cafe or Margaritaville in the country

the only time a married man giving another woman earrings made me cry happy tears
This is lovely and I hope they release a Will & Harper tie-in can of Pringles.
Appreciate the moments where we see a cis person advocate for their trans friend in public settings. Or when we see a cis person asking questions and seemingly striving to reframe the way they see their trans friend. Most cis people are not doing that sort of work, which can be, as this also touches on, really, really hard and exhausting to navigate as a trans person. Ultimately, I think this is one of those cases where the film is more for cis people rather than trans people, and that’s okay if it has its intended effect.
However, and the film blatantly acknowledges this, the parameters of this documentary make it expressly individualistic rather than a more widely accessible glimpse…
is unicycling normal in iowa?
“I’m not really afraid of these people, i’m afraid of hating myself” bawling my eyes rn.
This is an absolutely beautiful and necessary film about friendship and transness and love. It has a lot of heart, and laughs and tears. The whole journey was really beautiful, meeting Harper and seeing the world through her eyes. It was very heartwarming and there are a lot of things to take away from a friendship like theirs.
The soundtrack of this was really good and I’m not just talking about the Kristen Wiig song, that was hilarious btw and very on brand, loved it. But when I heard Mazzy Star’s Fade Into You and Shelter From The Storm. Chef’s kiss.
Overall, it’s such…
One the one hand: a very moving doc about two old friends working through one friend’s transition during a road trip.
On the other hand: a very interesting meta-narrative about different kinds of visibility that can either condemn or shield you. Really fascinating to watch how the visibility of fame interacts with the visibility of being trans and how they navigate this.
Incredible to watch Will Ferrell grapple with a friend’s transition in such an honest manner; wildly entertaining to just watch him on a road trip.
it's okay to feel pretty!! my heart awww💗💕💗💕
