Charlie Brown is right there with Winnie the Pooh as far as being cartoons with positive messages that never fail to make me smile. Welcome Home, Franklin doesn’t change that. It’s a sweet story that made me wish I had participated in a soapbox derby as a child and also made me crave pizza + root beer!

"Welcome Home Franklin" bringt eine alte Peanuts-Figur zurück und rockt dabei die Bude! Der Film ist nicht nur lustig und herzerwärmend, sondern auch voller Lektionen über Freundschaft und das Überwinden von Hindernissen. Die Chemie zwischen Franklin und Charlie Brown ist echt und ansteckend - eine tolle Hommage an die Originalserie.

Der Kurzfilm sieht auch großartig aus. Die Mischung aus 2D- und 3D-Animation sorgt für einen nostalgischen Touch, während die Musik aus den 60er Jahren das Gefühl perfekt abrundet.

Ob man nun 5 oder 95 Jahre alt ist, "Welcome Home Franklin" ist ein Muss für alle Peanuts-Fans und solche, die es werden wollen!

Welcome Home, Franklin is the first Peanuts short dedicated to Franklin. Which is new to the animated features but (I've recently learn) not at all new for the comic strip. A number of the details and scenarios of Franklin's origin and introduction were taken from the strips starting back in 1968. It seems he was more verbose in print than he was in animation.

This new Apple TV+ short introduces us to Franklin who has just moved to town. He is concerned by Linus' obsession with The Great Pumpkin, confused by Lucy's psychiatry stand, and baffled by whatever in hell Snoopy and Woodstock are up to. But he runs into good ol' Charlie Brown and they hit it off... later…

Franklin asking Charlie Brown if he’s related to James Brown is the funniest ever. Franklin also has the best musical taste out of anybody real or imagined.

We have come a long way from Franklin being segregated at the Thanksgiving table to him finally being loved. 🥰

“One thing was for sure, there was a lack of variety in this place.” - Franklin after seeing the Peanuts gang as he moves into town. 

You can say that again, Franklin.  

After the wonderfully enjoyable “One of a Kind Marcie,” Apple TV+ tries to bring life to another (ahem) minor character and while it tries too hard, ultimately I got to like this story.  One problem is that it make Franklin think he’s cooler than everyone else (this crew knows jazz, ever heard of Vince Guaraldi, Franklin?) but his struggles to fit in is a nice lesson for kids.  

Not sure I enjoyed the erasure of the alternate universe where he meets Peppermint Patty first.  And the person who starts the slow solo clap would never start the slow solo clap. 

Still, love this series of shorts.
