Huge improvement on the first one, in my opinion. Pop star in recovery is a much better emotional center than pro-bono therapist who is paradoxically still rich. 

My only hang-up with the Smile franchise is that you never know what is real and what is not. There are no rules, which can be cool, but it leaves the storyteller too much room for cheating. 

I was tickled to death by the editing, though, some really cool match cuts. So many jump scares. See it in Dolby if you want to have a fucking heart attack.
