Nirvanna The Band The Movie, 너바나 더 밴드 더 쇼 더 무비
Finally some cinema, will quite possibly become a 5 star by morning
EDIT: and just like that, we're a 5
There is a certain kind of magic Matt Johnson is uniquely skilled at conjuring. Fans of the popular Vice web series already knew this, more people discovered it when watching Blackberry, but Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie is that singular Matt Johnson magic fully realized. Hilarious, yes (I want to avoid festival hyperbole, but I’ve never seen such uproarious laughter during a screening in my lifetime), but what I’ve appreciated more about Johnson & McCarrol’s comedy series is how much of is rooted in love. On a production level, the love of a filmmaker who is willing to make a more “Hollywood friendly” biopic (without compromising his artistic voice) in order to fund his ion project. But also on a narrative level, 2 friends who love each other so immensely, not even the universe can keep them apart.
NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE is an absolutely brilliant time-traveling buddy comedy from the ingenious mind of Matt Johnson. There’s no reason this should work as well as it does but it’s absolutely hilarious and incredibly well-conceived considering its DIY budget. I don’t even know how they got away with some of the gags and references in this considering the copyright legalities involved, which makes it all the more awesome. It’s a miracle this even exists. A pure example of what independent filmmaking is all about.
Rewatched the entire series after the premiere…Modern masterpiece.
Top tier comedy - the epitome of friendship - and unexpectedly a blockbuster.
Going to watch again before copyright changes the movie, again.

this is the happiest i’ve been in a movie theater in my entire life. i can’t laughing this hard at a movie ever. six stars out of five
This feels punk in the same way that Jackass and Borat did back in 2006. And yet it's also extremely pop. So it's basically like the Blink-182 of movies and that is why I loved it.
