Had a ball with this one. A legit globetrotting adventure that’s predominantly shot on location in these exquisite places. Stuff like that matters. Krasinski and Portman are really fun as the bickering brother and sister adventurer duo. ing turns from Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, and Carmen Ejogo are all solid. I even enjoyed Benjamin Chivers as the plucky kid—and he manages to avoid being a DSB character! Woulda loved more Tooch, but what are ya gonna do? Check this out on Apple, although I’m real thankful I caught the fun on the big screen.
Glad to see Cardinal Bellini is behind the guarding of the fountain.
fun watch! who wants to adventure with me? i’m thinking egypt…
*sigh* They tried.
…I have….thoughts.
I see what they were going for. They were going for National Treasure meets The Mummy. Unfortunately, the movie was kind of a mess. Which is disappointing because I REALLY wanted to like it. Damn it if I didn’t want to like it. I love National Treasure and am always looking for movies like it. But the characters just didn’t give me any reason to care about them and the script did them no favors. I don’t know that I can blame John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, I feel like they were just not given good material to work with. I didn’t believe them as siblings and Natalie Portman character never really showed any actual…
I actually had high hopes for this movie but it just honestly wasn’t very good. I did not feel the sibling chemistry between John Krasinski and Natalie Portmans characters at all. Nothing against their individual performances, it just didn’t feel natural to me. I found myself getting bored with the story a lot of times, and a lot of plot points just didn’t seem to pay off. I found myself enjoying the last act a bit more than the rest of the film, but I definitely had a feeling that I was trying to convince myself to like it, and that’s never a good thing. Not sure how they could fumble a basic archeological adventure story but they did imo.
