Four Favorites with the Deadpool & Wolverine team: Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin and director Shawn Levy.
With Deadpool & Wolverine slashing its way to the top of the box office, we asked its stars and director to share their Four Favorite films.
Matthew Macfadyen’s picks have bewitched us, body and soul: he kicks it all off with a Bergman and a Pacino, then ends with a regret about not having enough slots left for a Haneke. Meanwhile, Emma Corrin goes for an underrated Meryl Streep dramedy, calling Carrie Fisher’s script “one of the best screenplays, I think, ever” (“That’s a good choice,” Macfadyen affirms), then brings it home with two New York-set superhero movies: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and You’ve Got Mail. Yes, Nora Ephron is a superhero.
Shawn Levy actually ended up sharing a Four Fave with Wolverine—both he and Hugh Jackman (in a separate interview) chose the Australian war drama Gallipoli. But it’s a different, more intergalactic war that has his heart: “The transportive, immersive complexity of [Star Wars] led to my desire to do movies like Free Guy and Real Steel and Night at the Museum.” Levy told us. “And, of course, Deadpool & Wolverine.”
