Dune: Part Two

2024

★★★★½

Dune: Part Two quite spectacularly raises the level from its predecessor.

With this sequel, the first one makes more sense and you better understand the structuring. It feels very Fellowship of the Ring/The Two Towers in that sense; however many parts this has, they're all one. You can't watch any as a standalone.

This movie is even more beautiful to watch and experience. Greig Fraser's photography and Hans Zimmer's score are elite tier. It still has plenty of talking, rehashing the co cepts of the first as they're put in motion. But what raises this one's level is more movement and more action.

I love how Timothée Chalamet's Paul is growing as a character. He seems worlds apart from the first scene of the first film. Rebecca Ferguson: Amazing. Austin Butler: Deliciously evil. Zendaya: Heart and soul.

Denis Villeneuve has reached master status. I've know that for long. But the acclaimed filmmaker just doesn't miss.
