Zach Galifianakis’ Veneers were so fucking distracting. 5 month anniversary (those are apparently a thing), and my girlfriend wanted to go watch this. Can you tell that I love her?
I can’t believe I gave this my money.

I think I was too harsh on this when I first saw it. It’s a pretty fun time now looking back on how it all came to be. Rock wasn't kidding when he said “the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.” He got everyone replaced, and the whole DCU rebooted, himself included, had the then CEO step down and finally killed the Snyderverse and had Cavill fire his agent. Not fun for him, but very fun for me. Here’s to James Gunn’s DCU. May it prosper.

(I wouldn’t be against Dwayne reprising the Black Adam role if his ego allows him to.)

One of the best franchises in history if you ask me . Desperately need Mel to start making number 5.

I see the Terrifier comparisons but I didn’t really get that vibe outside of him emoting like a mime? Anyway I enjoyed this for what it was. Decent gore, an actor that I knew of (Matt Servitto from the Banshee TV series) and it helped kill time for 90 minutes. Not terrible. I mean, let’s see you make a movie.

As an Australian I know a little about American Football, I think Australian Football is much better and more exciting, although I did like to watch Brady (everyone did) and I the Eagles (go birds.) 

Oliver Stone gives a high octane, gritty sports drama that I think even someone oblivious to American Football’s existence would enjoy. Anchored by stellar performances from an established and stellar cast (Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, Aaron Eckhart, Matthew Modine.) It gives you that pulsating raw energy that captures the grit of the sport I think any sport fan can appreciate.

The reason the MCU, DC, and superhero movies as a whole are made today and are popular culture. We have Brando, Hackman, and Christopher Reeve to thank. Of course, Richard Donner, too. (The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray looks absolutely spectacular.) The greatest superhero of all time. I can’t wait for the new movie. (Margot Kidder is the greatest Lois Lane.)

Girlfriend really wanted to see this inside the cinema and it seemed like it was only out for a week. I wish the trailers didn’t outright just tell you the twist is that Iris is a robot. It could’ve just been a great early twist and the trailers could’ve just been “the day I killed him” stuff. I guess the twist is that she didn’t know she was a robot but that’s a shitty twist. I just wish I didn’t know anything about this going in. I’d seen the trailers 10 times over the course of going to other films, man.

ittedly, I only watched this for Pacino’s portrayal of Roy Cohn because I’m trying to run through Al’s filmography and televisionography. (His performance has much more humour attached to it than Jeremy Strong’s performance in The Apprentice (2024) did.) Only to be found with stellar performances and some outright fucking weird ones from everyone with characters that I really enjoyed. Goddamn, is there a lot to process in all of this. This was something.

My favourite film of all time, I could watch it a billion times (I probably already have ) and every review I make of it seems to come off like a love letter so I always delete half of what I wrote lmao. Regardless it looks so beautiful on the 4K Bluray my girlfriend bought me. Any way to experience this film in a different way than I have I will always go out of my way to do. We’re seeing JAWS in Concert performed with a live orchestra in August. I’m so excited.

A short 17 minutes of Clint talking about his films, with a plethora of huge names talking about what he did to make a reinvention of the western genre, what think of him as a director; who he learned from like Sergio Leone and it’s a quick biography too. Names that I love like Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freedman and Scorsese are in this. This was a special feature in the 4K Bluray of Pale Rider. I’m sure you can find it online, though.

A man with no name comes to town and he’s got a Bible, a six-shooter and an aura that just won’t quit. Nothing like an old fashioned town vs. corrupted powers that be western. I think this one really has it all. Gritty shootouts with your fair share of gore to follow, Eastwood being Eastwood, squinty eyes and all and decent ambiguity about Clint’s character.

You can just tell the film was made with love and care without having seen this documentary, but it’s very cool to have confirmation that it absolutely was.

Loved it so much in the cinema, I just had to own the 4K Blu-ray. Still adore Goldblum's Wizard of Oz. Both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are perfect in their respective roles, and the songs are phenomenal. Honestly, can’t wait for November and Part II.

There’s films for everyone. This one’s just not for me.

I know I've seen this a long time ago, but it really feels like I watched it for the first time tonight. No budget, shot in 35 days, nominated for an Oscar, given phenomenal songs to use and brought Mickey Rourke back to the spotlight. I love professional wrestling, it might be my first love, and the things the men and women put themselves through. The important family moments they miss. All for us. It's hard not to romanticise the profession, but films like this really underline what it takes out of and from them.

“I need to know that I have done one thing right with my life!”

I never thought I’d watch this movie. I was ecstatic for Brendan Fraser winning Best Actor at the Oscars for it, but it never seemed to appeal to me. Now that I’m on my Darren Aronofsky journey, though, it was inevitable. I’m so glad I gave this a shot finally. 

This film is wonderful. Granted, it made me sad the entire time, it’s definitely not a happy film, but it’s damn sure moving and, as stated before, wonderful.

Noah is on some badass shit. He also stole my look by being bald with a beard when he’s got hair. (The only truly unforgivable thing he did in this film.) Reading some random reviews before I watched this, all I got from them was “ThEre’s No rOck PeOpLe In tHe BiBle” from the same people who’d hate this film if it was 1000% biblically accurate. We hate artistic interpretation and cinematic liberties, I see. What I got from it was great visuals, a great story, and great performances from a stellar cast. I don’t know why some of y’all watch movies sometimes, man. Phenomenal? No. Good? Decent? Absolutely.

True artistry and madness equals perfection, no?

Clint Mansell’s score is spectacular. Holy shit. 

A horror film in the classic sense. No doubt. It leaves you horrified and breathless at the end, and tense and worried throughout. It’s one giant fucking allegory. This Catholic boy did not let the biblical undertones (if you can call them that) go unnoticed either. They’re absolutely everywhere. It’s not just biblical, though. There’s allegory’s for everything. Climate change, gender influence. It’s so phenomenally layered. 

My friend has been bugging me for weeks to watch this film, so I trusted him and bought the 4K Blu-ray. Tried to find it in-store, and the woman at the counter was ecstatic that we wanted it and told my girlfriend it was “her favorite movie.” Jesus, lol. Ended up having to order it online from the stores website. Another fantastic film I’ve added to my collection.

Funnily enough use to have some great laughs over this movie with my Nan. Always get a laugh out of me.

So my girl and I have tickets to opening night on the 17th but I found out there was a premiere tonight. I thought Tom would be there, considering he was at the Sydney one, so yeah, I snuck us in. Unfortunately no Cruise (very sad), but I got to see the movie and got a new profile picture for the occasion (very good.)

I trusted him one last time and he delivered. Every step calculated, every stunt real. This Mission is amazing. I can’t wait to see it again in two days. First time I’ve seen a mission or my boy on the big screen.

Two strangers on each side of the road. One makes the other laugh. They become friends. They have fun. They get into trouble. They fight. They become friends again. That’s life, and the crows keep laughing, baby. (This movie got dark, man.) 

Pacino in his memoir re having a great time shooting this and recalls a story of him and Hackman dres as bums in their off-time walking the streets to see if they were noticed at all. Eventually asking an actual homeless man where the soup kitchen was. To which he told them and finished with “you have a great day Mr. Hackman and Mr. Pacino.” Which they both found absolutely hilarious. The only person who recognized them. He must’ve seen ‘The Godfather’ (1972) and ‘The French Connection’ (1971). They wondered if he thought to himself “man, this Hollywood acting thing must be a real tough gig.”

Another movie I wanted to see at the cinema with my girlfriend, but it was only at our local theater for about two weeks before something else took its screenings. It was decent. I love a story about a father trying his best. I also loved the premise and minimalist aspect of it all. Worth watching to see Hopkins smoke a t.

2025 Ranked

Yep, it’s another Scott Eastwood movie I wouldn’t have checked out, but it had a huge name attached. This time it was Sylvester Stallone, and I just can’t up a new Sly movie. You know what, though? I actually enjoyed this one. Plus, Willa Fitzgerald (who I know from the Scream TV series) was in it. It’s stupid action with terrible blood effects, but it never stops, and it works for what it’s trying to be. Won’t go high on my 2025 Ranked list but it was a great time killer.

Fun fact. Saturation diving is statistically considered 1000 times a more dangerous job than that of a cop. So take that “I put my life on the line” crap elsewhere. Anyway! Woody Harrelson still has it, man. To be fair I don’t think he ever “lost it”, though. Phenomenal actor. A great true story that will really take you for a ride. Wasn’t expecting much. Very happy with this. 

2025 Ranked

Was going to check this one out in the cinema but never got around to it. (One of the very few I’ve missed.) I don’t think I missed out on anything earth shattering, but it was definitely decent. That intruder in the house must’ve had superhuman strength in the third act, though, lol. Also, The Undertaker meme with him looming behind AJ Styles made a cameo lmao.

God, does De Niro look great for 81. Scott Eastwood looks exactly like his father too. Those eyes, man. Unmistakably Eastwood. I can understand Scott being in this crap, even De Niro, as he’ll do anything for a paycheck now, but Jamie Foxx? Why did he agree to this? Saw this as it was being d on Prime, and I could add it to my 2025 Ranked list. It won’t be high. If you want a good De Niro movie from this year, check out ‘The Alto Knights.’ I really enjoyed that.

Made it a double feature night after ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ (we were always going to. This was such a more fun and outright better movie.) As I’ve stated before my girlfriend has insane coulrophobia. So this was always the most hilarious opinion to choose. Sat front row and everything. Gave her no chance to hide. Also wasn’t a single soul in the cinema with us. (Go see this!) Had no idea Will Sasso was in this so that was an unexpected and great surprise too. He’s awesome in this. A fun twist and some really fun kills.

Packed house for this one! I thought the line was long, but this movie felt so much longer. The good things I’ll give it credit for are it had a wonderful send off for Tony Todd and everything Erik did that made me laugh. Like most of these films, though, I one character’s name (if that) and never recall the others because none are worth caring about. It’s bad when I come out of the film thinking about Paco (the fucking pet turtle). The kills were all right. Cock-tease on the septum piercing kill, though. Doesn’t happen.

While the quality looked piss-poor compared to when I saw it in cinema or how it would look on a Bluray (I think I’m never buying normal DVD’s again), the fact this DVD had an “extended cut” caught my attention. I think it just had more Orlok monologue and more William Defoe. Which isn’t at all a bad thing. I don’t think it adds anything more to the film, though.

Today is May 8 in Australia (Mate day) and my local cinema was showing one of the most Aussie movies we have, Croc Dundee. Only this was titled “The Encore Cut” so I was obviously curious. Just to find out it leaves out a cross-dressing joke and somebody yelling the F-word (I don’t mean fuck.) So nothing of value was lost. Still can’t believe my girl had never seen this, but seeing it for the first time inside a cinema is definitely the way. First time I’d ever seen it on the big screen too. Fantastic. Hilarious.
Outright bloody Australian.

Visual motifs, symbolism, subtext. Phenomenal performances, perfect pacing and build-up. Masterful sound design and phenomenal cinematography. Stanley Kubrick is the master and the blueprint. The constant aura of horror, this feeling of unease that never lets up. You never feel safe for a single moment. The moment this film starts you know you’re in it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this film but it’s never looked or sounded as beautiful as it does on this 4K Ultra HD Bluray. These things have me by the balls. I can’t believe I wasn’t buying them before. I can see why they copyrighted “UltraHD.” Just madness.

It really hits different the second time around. I know my reasons well for giving it 4/5 the first time I saw it, but it undoubtedly is a 5 star film.

You know how some films just seem deeply evil? Yeah this is definitely one of them. Not even considering Polanski wrote and directed it (but also just a little.) It’s phenomenal, though. Haunting as hell, too.

Bought more 4K Blurays today (girlfriend even bought some for me!) and two of the ones I purchased were films I haven’t seen. One of those two was this. Robert Eggers’, The Northman. What performances, sets, costumes, the soundtrack! I can recall some great Nicole Kidman roles but this is up there by a lot. Just an exhilarating film. I could’ve watched this forever.
I didn’t want it to end.

The first hour or so of this movie? Phenomenal. Can watch it whenever I can’t think of something to watch (like tonight.) The last hour? It fails to keep me engaged. It just loses me. I just can’t seem to hang on. Maybe it’s just me. Still very enjoyable and funny.

I’ve never seen this film look more spectacular than what I just watched. Which is obviously going to be a thing I say a lot when reviewing my Bluray’s, but wow. Just wow. It looks like it came out this year.

The best thing to come out of Marvel in a long time and boy did they need this to work. At least need it to work for me in getting me completely interested again. (Which they did.) Bucky’s in his Tom Cruise ‘Mission Impossible II’ era, John Walker is still awesome and is just outright funny, along with Bob who rocks, and you can’t tell me Marvel expected Florence Pugh to have so much sauce when they cast her as Natasha’s sister, lmfao. Talk about a lucky break. I’m way more interested in her character than I ever was with Natasha. I dug this a lot.
Hopeful for the future.

Brando being impossible, Coppola thinking the film is a fucking disaster and everyone’s doing drugs and drinking. Peak. Thank whoever above that George Lucas didn’t direct this film, like holy bullet dodge.

I finally bit the bullet and bought the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray so I could watch it. First of all, it looks and sounds absolutely beautiful. I still think this is easily Coppola’s best film. It clears the Godfather trilogy. Brando’s performance is spectacular. The build up to him is masterful and the payoff is exactly that too. He might’ve been the laziest actor in the world, but the man was a star for a reason. He’s in the film for 15 minutes and the atmosphere, mood and raw presence he brings is insane. Girlfriend cried seeing the Water Buffalo die. One of the greatest films ever. Masterful.
I will now one day have to watch the Redux Cut. Then eventually start the film commentary’s for all three.

Yeah, this might be my favourite of the first trilogy. Some people like ‘Seed Of Chucky’ (2004), though, and that’s crazier. So I get a because this one rocks. I don’t know why it gets the flack of being the “worst.” Don Mancini also obviously took inspiration from Kubrick’s ‘Full Metal Jacket’ (1978) with “This is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for shooting, this is for fun” and Shelton. He is just R. Lee Ermey Jr, lmao.
