Extreme loneliness makes one vulnerable, desperate for a little warmth. In unaccepting times, the price for a little heat can be a hard one to pay.

I didn’t expect this film to be so politically nuanced. A lot of sometimes shocking historical context is nonchalantly given, explaining, yet not excusing, why certain hateful behavior can be the norm. It is a beautiful film that tackles many themes in such a short amount of time.

What an absolute gem this is. The lighting, costumes, set design, actors 🤌🏻

From the moment the film starts, every role is clear. The tone is set with a brutish, violent man, whose wife is far too refined for him, an intellectual bookworm, and a gifted chef. The film switches seamlessly between utter violence and beauty, sensibility, and sensuality. This repetition builds tension until the glorious finale, where violence, beauty, and poetic justice intertwine.

This really was a puzzle to figure out. While reading the synopsis I got the movie a little more, but they could’ve made it a little more clear with additional scenes or dialogue. Instead they leave the vagueness with the audience which just left me confused and questioning everything. Sure, the question “what is real?” was supposed to be asked, but not to the extent to which my friend and I were taking it. A complicated film does not make automatically make good one, yet I can’t deny the visuals, acting and some camera shots were incredible.

Great sequel to the franchise. Once again, Villeneuve presents us with a stylized and fully realized world where there are so many details that us geeks will fan over for decades. This film starts with a more humorous ambiance compared to its predecessor, which is greatly balanced to not overshadow the seriousness of the events unfolding. The second part is more action-packed, of which I’m a lesser fan, instead of soft political games like the first film, but it was…

This rewatch made me completely obsessed with this film. It's one of the most eerie, mystifying and haunting things I've ever seen.

Immediately, you plunge into this hard and intense universe of Detective Takabe, a middle-aged man who is trying to balance the suppressed but heavy stress he feels because of his job with his home life. However, his composure is on the brink of collapsing, and his wife's mental health is not helping.

Kurosawa manages to force his audience…
